    Hi all,

I'm in need of replacement window felts (with trim) for my '69 GS hardtop:

    Where to buy?
I see Steele, OPGI, even SS396.com mentioned here.

And do those come with chrome/stainless, or do I have to use the old ones? (like the rubber between the 1/4 panel glass and side glass?)

Edit: I now see a set at oldbuickparts.com WK69H for $117.50. They claim those are the correct ones with chrome beads. Anyone experience?

    Thanks.

I ordered my set from OBP. AKA Cars for my 67 skylark PN WK667HW. At the time me placing my order there was a shortage of material to make mine that was 18+ months ago Nobody had any.... Just last week I got a phone call from cars that my felts are on a truck headed to me..... I give then a full 10 star rating...I will buy from them again and again.

I only advice is call or E-mail CARS or others to check on stock on hand.
Some felts are made to order the manufacture make them in batches at a time every few weeks......I hope this helps.

There are two types of felts for that car, the regular ones, and the ones that are made for the cars with the wide “chrome” pieces.

It’s hard to tell from the pic but your car looks like it might have the wide chrome pieces, like mine has.

I don’t know if they are reproduced or not for the 69 cars. I used a nice set of originals for my car.

Just make sure you order the correct pieces.

    Thanks, I didn't know that.

I added another picture, but I don't think this qualifies as wide chrome?

    No,
That looks like the regular fuzzies, with the small round chrome bead and the rubber on both sides.

That is the easy to find style.

    Stefan,

I think the group would be interested in a review of how they install and fit once you get them.

I glad they had them in stock for you and they verified they are the right one.....

Mine came the other day just open the box they where drop ship from the manufacture UPI.. Months ago I was told they where made by RePops.... Well the UPI made one look like trash... The moment I opened the box I thong they where the wrong ones. all 8 pieces have the chrome bead.
After further inspection I notice that not the wrong set... They just flat out made flat out wrong. the 4 inner felts should have and do have a chrome bead. The 4 outer fuzzies are not supposed to have a chrome bead.... The 4 outer fuzzies mount to a Aluminum reveal molding with no bead.

What I dont understand is I read UPI has been making these no fit pieces of junk for quite some time...

I sure hope CARs can work this out... CARs/old buick parts should have known about this issue and delete this manufactures part

    UPI or PUI?
I've bought the kits from CARS for my 66's.... they looked like PUI boxes with the logos cut off. Inners and outers were the correct style with chrome bead for my hardtop w/o belt reveal moldings.

Restoration Specialties makes them as well, they're made to order. I know they sell the strips in bulk 6 ft lengths, maybe that's where the other suppliers buy the material for their kits.

For pointing out my blunder on my letters in the right order.... PUI out of Kentucky.

I should use my glasses more often.

    I'll look into restoration specialties....

I know RePops makes a nice set also, they were on a 66 GTO.

That might not happen. CARS just requested another $20 because the system underestimated the weight. But that's not my problem and that's not going to happen. We had an agreement for a product with shipment, so they have to live up to that.
    Otherwise they can refund me.

So, I might need another address. SS396 don't specifically mention a Buick, so which one to pick? Do the 1969 Chevelle fit?

My bad, PUI is now RPUI.
I see they offer window felts in a 'Reproduction' style, and an extra cost 'Original' style. I don't know the difference.
I have seen other makes with flat stainless beads instead of the round bead.
This appears to be one of those instances where finding the correct product is overly complicated.

Wow, they really want me to pay extra. I declined and said they could refund me.
Perhaps it's normal in the States, but I payed for items including shipment and to me a deal is a deal. They made a mistake and should carry the consequenses.

Cool, I think I'll order here. Also bought my the body bushings here.

    Walt,
Some venders used to reproduce the felts with a “flat” piece or chrome and not the beaded type.

They used to call the flat style “reproduction” and the ones with the chrome bead the “original style”.

That might be what they are talking about.

The flat style will work OK for a coupe, even though it does not look correct, but there is no way you can slide the flat style chrome into the space for the convertible “hockey sticks”.
