GTO people can me Moparish kind of. They know details. A 71 Judge is a low compression holy grail. This wasn't a dis at all. 71's can bring good cash to the right person. That factory color has to be rare. One of the 71 Judge convertables used to run around Denver. Rather see this sell for good cash to someone that truely gets it over the "Hey what the H " guy at a big auction that throws it down just because. Might end up at one in the future but I kinda like it. Bet it will get the love it needs. 4 speed Judge? Too cool! :3gears:
Im glad I was gone pretty much all day and missed the drama:boring: Buick nuts going nuts over a Ponty-ack is nutsou:
I have to admit, all though i own buicks the 70 GTO Judge is my favorite car. I dont know that my pockets will ever be deep enough to own one. I might be able to own a clone at some point or have to find a heap like this 71 that i will spend decades restoring. Guess only time will tell.
yea actually the one from dazed and confused started me off because i was in high school when it came out and i love that car. I later on saw the one in two lane blacktop. alot of people prefer the hidden headlight 69's but i love the big enduro nose of the 70. plus if i have the 70 judge and cheri has the 70 gs what else can you ask for in life lol.
Funny thing about that car, although it was orbit orange and had Judge stripes and rear wing, it did not have Judge stickers on it. It did, however, have GTO stickers on the front fenders. It also reportedly had a 455, which wasn't part of or available on the Judge package. Also missing were the 455 stickers on the front fenders but it did have the Ram Air stickers on the hood, which would have indicated a RAIII. There were two of these cars used in the movie and both were sent directly from Pontiac. They used them exactly the way they got them with the exception of adding the Keystone wheels. Here's a few pics of the convertible I restored for your viewing pleasure
Bill, that's really sharp. The auction ends today. It's been stuck @ $19,099 for a while. I wonder what the seller expected it to bring? I don't think it's had a reserve since I noticed it. ---------- Post added at 10:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:53 AM ---------- Dan, I forgot about that movie having one, thanks for the reminder!:bglasses:
That's because it wasn't a ''Judge''. I don't think it was ever called a Judge in the movie. Warren Oats' character name in the credits was GTO:Smarty:
Revisiting this thread....17 Judges were built with the 455. 14 were hardtops and 3 were convertibles. The 455 was introduced for the Judge in the middle of the model year and came standard with ram air. This info has been out for perhaps 20 years but if you're not into Pontiacs, I don't blame you for not knowing this. If you want to learn about the car in the movie, follow this link: http://www.highperformancepontiac.c...ind_the_camera_two_lane_blacktop/viewall.html
So, I'm at lunch with a car buddy today, and he says, hey, a guy up the road has a '71 GTO he wants me to look at. He calls the guy and we stop by with our Penn Station cups still hand, and guess what...ou: ou:
