( Quote ) Looks nice. Good color choice for paint and top But you should pull the 454 and put a 455 in. Then you won´t need a blower and NOS to get her in the 10´s Amen !!! Beautiful car. Welcome. John B.
Welcome aboard Blown 454, That's one mean looking "Buivey". How soon can we make it a Buick? Better start working on that cage before you get hurt. Thom Kleckner
All the tracks around here don't enforce those rules for test and tune. Why should they? You are the one getting hurt not the track. For all my purposes NHRA can kiss my :moonu:.
p p p You don't need a ton of money to get a buick motor into the 12's. My first motor cost $5785.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arGOK8wDVPE
Tell that to Wildcat Wagner...Seen him run 11's in his Wildcat several times and NO it has NO roll bar..He even ran at the GS Nat's several times and pulled the wheels and still was raced.
Yeah, there are no doubt a number of tracks and/or events that choose to ignore NHRA rules. It's a risk they choose to take, I guess.
hey, blown454 You should realy put a 455 in. It´s a Buick and should be a 100% Buick not a Buick/Chevy Hybrid. Here´s a short text out of popular hot rodding: By Chris Lee's own admission, he was once a die-hard Chevy guy, complete with the obligatory First-Gen Camaro-a raucous '67 with a Powerglide trans and 4.88 gears. Sure, it ran 10.70s down the quarter-mile, but it was a pain to drive on the street. Then one day he was introduced to a Buick. A friend of a friend was looking for someone to drive his newly completed '70 GS Buick down the track, and soon Chris was off to Carlsbad Raceway towing a beautiful red Buick GS. Chris tells PHR, "I buckled up and staged the car. I'm thinking high 12s, since the car had a bench seat and was pretty quiet with a smooth idle. The light turned green, I hit the gas and thought, 'Holy crap! This thing hauls butt!'" This seemingly sedate ride knocked down an impressive 11.06 on its first run-not much off his barely-streetable Camaro. Chris had seen the light. Turns out the ride was owned by former NHRA World Champ Dave Benisek. Chris says, "At the time I didn't know his history, but I knew I wanted a Buick." Here´s the link if you want to read all: http://www.popularhotrodding.com/features/0707phr_1970_buick_gs/index.html 12´s with a blower...that´s because of the Chevy motor. Buick 455´s are 85 pounds lighter than Chevy´s 454.

Nice car :TU: and Welcome to the board. Im on Long Island ... there is a VERY strong group of Buick people in the North East. What part of NY are you from ? Alot of guys here are "purists" and want to see a Buick motor under a Buick hood. I kinda agree but understand that this is how you got the car ... but maybe one day you'll reconsider. I'd Love to see some pics of the rear suspension setup and how you tucked those meats under there - what size tires are they ? Here's my ride ... kinda tame looking compared to yours though ... just a nice cruiser that likes to make long weekend trips ... maybe to a car show a couple hundred miles away or a ride to the beach with my gal Every so often though she's BADDDD and I have to punish her.... ...I hate to do it but she needs to be reminded who is the boss Sometimes I even let her play with others ... but she never plays nice Maybe someday I'll get rid of this Buick Boat Anchor in the engine compartment ... but not today
