It appears to be 71 and newer. Possibly early 80's with the tall center cone. Hard to tell from the small photo. Steve
Here are photo's of the prototype for my refinishing process to salvage otherwise junk centers. With this process I can do metalwork to repair dents, gouges, rust, or other damage to the center and recoat them with a finish that is virtually undetectable from the stock satin chrome finish. Can you guess which center is the refinished part? View attachment 226276 View attachment 226277 View attachment 226278 View attachment 226279
Steve. Would you be able to use the centers from the early 14" painted wheels and achieve the same results? This would open a new source for cores, as the centers are identical except for the plating.
Steve, I had the same question as Jim in mind. I have a lot of wheels here are just a FEW of the ones I have. I am planing on getting you to do a set of 1970 WG wheels for me I just want to provide you cores myself to save some money and if I can hand them off to you I will save on shipping them as well.
Yes, this will allow me to use painted wheels as cores provided they are not too rust pitted where the chrome would be. While I can fix them, the time involved would cost too much. I have found some painted wheels but because they did not have the protection of the chrome they were more rusted. I will be at Norwalk in June and the GS Nats in Oct. Bring all the 70 and older wheels you can.
Steve. I have a set of 5 VERY NICE, rust free early painted 14" wheels that I will bring to Norwalk. I would like to have you use these as cores for a set of 5 WG chrome wheels. Hope to see you there.
Sorry Steve, I was going by what I remembered, I remembered wrong ou:. I'll snap some shots and send it to you.
I would like to order 2 15x8 rallys from you. I am having trouble determining what back spacing I will need for my 69 GS. I am hoping to fit a set of Mickey Thompson 295 55 r 15s. What would you suggest? Thanks Craig
Craig, I usually make the 15x8 with 5 " back space but can adjust from about 4 5/8" to 5 1/4". I have not measured the 69 wheel wells so can't say what you need. Mount a stock 15 x7 on the axle and measure to see if it's centered and adjust from there. Let me know Thanks Steve
Thanks Steve! I will be in touch with the measurements, will probably be after christmas though. Should I measure from the lug base of the rim to the frame? Thanks again Craig
Hey Steve, I am ready to order two 15 x8 with 5.25" back space. Pm me for what ever you need! Thanks Craig
