Joe you are so The Man. The world needs more of this parental love. Can't even find the words other than... YOU ROCK !!
Well since I was busy last couple of weeks with getting cars ready for Mecum haven't done much Was able to drop off car at exhaust shop before Vegas and now that it's back home I can do some fine tuning Carb got rebuilt and this is what it sounds like This weekend I'll set timing and noticed a small coolant leak at t stat housing https://photos.app.goo.gl/pwe19ZmizcCuUsx38 Click on link above for video
Joe, Underhood would sound so much better IF the valves were adjusted propely. NICE job you & your son did. Tom T.
Ohhhhhh you guys don't want to know what happened long story I'll try and fill you in on it later engine is out and at the shop
The first car my son got to drive on a regular basis was a 1976 Acadian (Chevette in Pontiac colours), 4spd, 4 banger. The only option was an am radio. Great little car. His first new car was a 1995 Cavalier. It too was a great car.
Ok so had everything all set and ready to go.....radio was installed new speakers out back wrapped up all the wiring nice and neat....son was at work.....he comes home goes inside....I start up the car turn up radio loud so he can hear new speakers installed.....he didn't know I was doing it...me n pops take off for a cruise without him..... couple miles away a knock starts.....no way....pull over tow car home... Yep.... The new distributor has an adjustable collar around the shaft I thought it was all the way in the block but nope and shaft never made contact with the oil pump shaft. So wasn't a good sight for my son to see car on a tow truck afterwards
So in the meantime. Engine is at shop didn't do to much damage so we play the waiting game. Have been doing some things to the car He got rechrome bumpers made some fresh air tubes also hid the coil and made up a spark plug wire loom My son tells me dad I have so much money into the car and I can't even drive it...... I say SON WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF THE CAR HOBBY. Also found a set of rare valve cover hold downs he got new tires all the way around it looks good sitting here
Joe just say screw it and put a 455 in that bad boy. Your son will appreciate the wait once that smile can't be wiped off his face.
Yeah right the only reason I wanted an old Chevy for him was slow in a 6 cylinder and a 3 on the tree so he would be off his phone and learn how to drive a real type of car and not something with a bunch of electronics
So you think he is going to let you drive his car again? Bad thing it happened, good thing it did not get to bad.
