If i was a 350 guy...i would own a set for sure....i would definitely get bare castings and once i recovered from that 2k and forgot about it...spend another 2k on some really nice portwork...then deck them out with the lightest spring and retainer package...then cam the piss out of it with plenty of lift...then the 6k spent MAY be worth it...idk....in theory....theres 100~150hp to be gained over some big valve stock heads
1850 lol just kidding I got enough going on before next week rechecking the lash today seems like it got a little loose so I am asking if I should change it some, maybe it is getting ready to take a crap, and if it does I like hugger's idea. Then just roller cam it. retiring in January and going to keep working so I will have some extra money for something. what else am I going to do lol.
If I had more time I would set it up just working on the lash right now and need to move TV cable for trans.
With 11.6 to 1 you are in the no where land of compression. It's not pump gas friendly and its just barely needing the race gas.you should up the compression more and run race gas all the time. A solid roller would be a good idea. How's the suspension? Maybe some money spent there would help more. If you were set with the small block I would think about stroking it.
That is for sure, probably should start collecting parts. Is it still on for Saturday at Quaker Mark?
Had another great track time again today at Quaker with Guy. Couldn’t line up together but oh well, I was l Ed up with a Mustang GT, took him out, walked away off the line with Buick 350 torque! I swapped my tapered 4 hole spacer for an open, also jetted up from stock 82 in front to 85’s, also added 3 more degrees total timing, DAMN the difference, got my best 60’ so far 1.84 I could tell the difference as soon as I nailed it! The open spacer certainly didn’t kill any low end, can’t really tell if it did anything up top as guy was saying the DA was crappier today than at 42, plus it’s an uphill track, best for today was a 13.40 shifting at 63/6500 rpm I know a lot of guys say the 350 needs to be wound up, but I consider it a torque monster in the small block world, nothing seems to kill the torque, not a single plane not 1 3/4” headers, I firmly believe you don’t need super deep gears either, oh, and an 850 double pumper on a 350 Buick is just fine, don’t let anyone sell you less than a 750. Guy had a senior moment on his second pass, LMAO, I’ll let him tell the story.
LOL yeah that 2nd run ok this is too funny I left the line all good car shifts into 2nd at 4500 on its own and like an idiot I pulled the stick down must have pulled it back into first the engine revved up and I got out of it. Well this is really stupid here I start to step on the gas and all I hear is the engine revving up I thought I was in neutral and was try desperately to pull the stick back into first and it would not pull down. I did not want to push up towards neutral since I thought I was there and reverse was the next gear. Mind and gear got lost lol. So what happened next was the car had finally slowed down and when I pushed on the gas again the car started to go, That was when I realized the car was in first as I pulled there in the first place in the beginning after shifting to second suddenly. It was the longest 6-8 seconds of my life took longer to type this than it actually happening. Then I look at time slip and I think it was a 28 second 1/4 mile run what a ding dong move that was. Anyways I ended up running 13.42 so Demko got me on time but I did mph more. My 3rd rn was the 13.42 run the other good run was a 13.48. I think Mark ran 13.45 or 47 on his first run. Great time as always Mark, got to do it again we might get one more good day never know. That botched 2nd run I had was against a Pontiac Lemans, nice car we talked to that guy the whole time there also he goes there all the time. He was running 13.22 with a 406 motor and on my run with him I had him out of the hole then I screw it up we were laughing our butts off on that one, then he runs his best time ever of a 13.09 go figure. I got him so hard out of the hole he drove it harder, that is what I told him anyways tons of fun. Remember Mark I was telling you how long it was going to take to get in to run. Well I started to enter races and just dial in at least you might get one or two more runs in if you happen to win and I did win a few so I would get 4-6 runs in. Just depends on just dialing in good and be on that damn light. Both our cars are running dead on consistent. The only problem is you sometimes have to race 10 second cars and hard to time the end, just have to stay in it and run your game, good on light and dial in close. ye haaa. ok Time to relax lol Later G.
