Hey Cjay, on that newish radiator plate, if you put it in the oven for a bit and also pour some coffee or tea on the decal, it might age it pretty good, just keep a close eye on it and pull it out when it’s what you want, don’t broil it! It’ll still be legible, and wrinkled.
Some more un-restoration of my used GSX. Thanks to @71GSX and @BYoung 508 now has original decals on it. A little before and after. The new repro decals really don't fit with survivor status of the car I swapped the fiberglass piece with the one I got from Brian and thr Stage 1 decal from Zach is just laying on the lid at this point Waaaay more fitting! And it looks so much better under the hood!
Still drilling down on the smallest details. Installed a set of original vacuum hoses on the air cleaner. You can make out the white striping and the black overspray
Chat, I noticed a red stripe hose on the distributor, is that correct? Not criticizing, just might be new to me.
Very good question! I needed a length of vacuum hose for the vacuum advance, so I went in my "box-o-vacuum hoses" and pulled a piece out that fit. Just so happened it had a red stripe on it. Technically, I'm pretty sure the original hose would of been painted red along with the vacuum advance.
Finally got the original Stage 1 top plate and original decal installed on 508. I think it really tops it off. I'm really not sure what else I could do to un-restore it any more. I think it's ready for another GSNats
Nice, I actually swapped my top plate for one I found in a wrecking yard like 25 years ago, because I liked the more readable tuneup info.
