Been a while. So far I removed both old CD player and cassette players that had been installed. Went with a retro sound Bluetooth radio. Came out great! I installed the new carpet and one of the new door panels. Yes, i cut the fresh panel to add a speaker. Only did it because the previous owner had already hacked the door itself to do it. They did a decent job at least. I think my door panel came out pretty nice. I also painted the very worn arm rest bases. I wish I had a good one to 3d copy and and print @ work. If anyone has a good one I can borrow, I can see about using our 3d scanner at work and maybe making an attempt at 3d print some. I also installed one of the Parts Place Inc arm rest pads. It didn't fit flush ,even after bending it a bit. Hopefully it will losen up in time and fit the base better. I added an amp in the trunk area as well to drive 6.5 speakers in the doors and 2 6x9 speakers under the rear deck. I will make a custom grill cover to add to the near rear package tray I ordered. I also added LED sequential rear brake lights. These are for a 70-72 Skylark. I trimmed the lens housings to make them for, then I used some windshield butyl tape to seal them against the elements. They look great! Excuse the mess, it's a work in progress
Any pictures of the led boards or the installation process? Im all for better brake lights to help other drivers see me safely on the highway. The cars lookin good. They are always a work in progress as you will find unless ur building a show car u will continue to make upgrades for years to come
Unfortunately I didn't take some pictures. I can't beleive I didn't. I usually document most of my work. The Boards are from DIGI-Tails. Summit racing had them in stock. These are made for 70-72 Buick Skylarks/ GSs. They are longer but, they can be made to fit the lenses on the 67. I did trim / notch the vertical sections of the lenses so the boards would fit flush. I also made sure there was enough clearance for the metal housing to fit over the board and sequential lighting switch that is on the back of it. The board fits snug when the housing is assembled. I used the butyl tape to seal up the hosuings and the section I cut out to make the board fit. If I get around to it, I will pull one apart and take pictures.
Haven't been on here on a while, here's some more pictures. I added a derale dual fan with shroud to it to help keep cool after my single fan/ dual speed broke. Need to track down a 200-4r or gear vendors to help get this thing cruising on the highway. The 3.73s don't allow me to daily it to work. I am planning on daily driving this since it has a fresh power train and sniper efi set up. Just missing an overdrive
Added some Summit racing rotors, new wheels bearings and hardware, wilwood D52 Calipers, 2.5 summit exhaust through Cherry Bomb salute Mufflers, over the axle out the back. Definitely sounds more mellow but sounds great manually shifting WOT runs
Just random pictures and rants. Here’s some pictures I took for my save the date Wedding Invites and other random shots. Built this car to drive it. next upgrades are tubular control arms, coil overs, re seal the diff, maybe convert to manual or add some gear vendors. Need to pull the dash to get to the bulbs and upgrade them to LEDs and maybe get a new heater - AC unit in there. Takes too much $ so most of it is on the back burner till after the wedding. sold my 70 and hell cat to fund my first home purchase here in CA but I still have the 67GS. will definitely look into owning another 70 skylark or GS in the future but for now, I’m really loving the 67. Have a cars and coffee meet to attend tomorrow in SF, hopefully I’m not the only Buick.
The car is looking fantastic. I had missed the updates since you got it painted. Great job. I am curious what tail pipes you used here? Greg
Hi Greg, I ordered a new full exhaust kit from summit racing. It fit really well, just trimmed the tailpipes and bought some turn downs at the local auto parts store and tucked them in the original location. I have also had good luck using the flow master tailpipes for A bodies. Those are about $185 last time I checked.
Here’s some more random videos from today https://youtube.com/shorts/TXGUMxxiQxU?feature=share https://youtube.com/shorts/MDIiNcrCLb8?feature=share I’ll get better exhaust ones and maybe outside sound. Really diggin the Cherry bomb Salute mufflers
Hi Gary, the color is Shadow Turquoise. I was between this one and green as well. I love it, turns heads everywhere but I like it because not a lot of people have the color or even knows what’s a GS400 is haha
Thanks. I have a Flowmaster American thunder kit on my 66' but the exhaust is old and the tail pipes are starting to get holes in them. Flowmaster does not sell the same tail pipes without the complete kit. I like the way mine fit. They have two different other tailpipes for A bodies. I am going to try one of them. Hopefully I can make them fit the same. I will have to add turn downs too as they don't turn down at the end like the ones in my kit. It should work out fine. Great job on the car. Looks so much better than when you got it. Greg
Here’s a recent picture. took it to the GoodGuys all American get together in Pleasanton CA. First time in the show. Saw a couple of other Buicks. Only one other 67 but GS340 California a decent 72 Stage 1 GSX for sale according to the owner. Took pictures of the vin as well, looked good. Had a lot of nice options but the color of the paint and stripes weren’t 100% factory looking and the original heads were pulled. I think even the block If I recall correctly.
Now I am looking to Cam the 430. Anyone have a nice cam sitting on their shelf? They are hard to find now haha.
Found a nice used 284-88H Cam from a board member here. I hope it sounds nice looking to get it swapped in this weekend. Did most of the prep work and ordered some lifters that are supposed to be for the solid push rod 430 but the cup looks like 5/16. found a new set on eBay and they seem promising. Hope to get it going soon. the engine is super clean and low miles. Was just a stock rebuilt 430. numbers on the heads come back as a 68 430 69cc. engine got dirty, hoping to clean it up before putting it back together. I’m hoping this cam wakes it up a bit more. Even with the current cam, it had a nice growl at WOT and would spin the tires easily. I also ordered a rear disc brake kit. Have to wait in the brake lines and realized my prop valve is too hard to get to with the headers. i also upgraded all the front and rear suspension. tubualar front and rear uppers and lowers with 1 inch lowering springs and some .5 ball joints rear sway bar and adjustable uppers front 1.25 sway bar the tool pictured made pressing out and in the rear differential bushings. It’s a must when doing it on the car.
