I am looking into possibly making a new part and am trying to gauge if there is enough interest to do it.

What I am talking about making is the yellow/gray Hood Insulation sets for the 69 Gran Sports, and the GS California cars. These cars came with a 3-piece set of hood insulation. The center section of these cars is raised, thus making the center piece of the hood insulation taller.

The yellow/Gray hood insulation sets that I offer is the closest thing you can find to the originals, so it would be correct for the Concours or restored Classes.

Shown below are 3 pics of the 69 GS and the 70-72 Gs hood insulation kits. Even though the outside shape of the pieces visually look the same, they are definitely cut differently.

The 69 set has a larger hole cut in the central piece, and is much taller.

The 70-72 set uses the smaller hole cut in the central part, and has the same thickness as the other pieces.

Anyway I am considering making a run of the 69 kits, and will probably do a run of the 70-72 kits as well.

I do not know what the pricing will be as I have not checked on material costs, however I do know thw 69 kits will cost more due to the added cost of the materials and labor.

Let me know if you are interested, and if there is enough interest I will get them done.

Another thing, I do not plan to keep anything in stock, and have not made any of the 70-72 kits for like 3 years now, therefore if you think you might want any of these I would advise letting me know as I make them very infrequently.

I just need to know if people are interested here. If so I will start another thread to take orders and let everyone know the cost of the kits.

No orders will be taken from this thread.
    Thanks again.

Duane, I have 2 sets I got from you about 5 years ago that are not installed yet. If I read this correctly the 69 set would be different . If that's the case I would be interested in 2 sets of the 69 GS .

If the sets I made earlier have the smaller hole in the center then they could be used for the 70-72 hoods.

I did not realize the ones I made earlier should have had the "taller" center section until I did my 69 car.

I am sure we can do something to fix this problem.
    Sorry

Need some clarification -- are these correct for a California GS or for a GS California?

Call it what you want. They are for the 2-door post model (Buick Special) small blocks with the raised "GS" hoods without any engine size emblems in the hood.

If the Colorado & Carolina versions used the same hood then it would work for them too.

    Yes,
For the 69-72 GS cars the front 2 pieces are left open. If you try to put them in there they get water soaked.

If you wanted a 68 5-piece set I could do them as well.
