A while ago i noticed that the trans mount looked a little soft. I mean the rubber part of it due to oil.
Could this lead to a little bit of vibration at various highway speeds?

    Thanks!

Could lead to a lot of things. The mount tends to collapse and changes the angle of the driveshaft. On mine, it made the clunking I had in my driveshaft worse.

OK, so better not to drive the car then?
Any idea where to get the original new mount. I see a lot of universal type trans mounts that i do not like.

The trans mount is specific to your car. You need the exact one, not a universal style. Check Ebay. I usually see them listed there regularly

With age, and wear, combined with a leaking rear seal, the rubber in the tranny mount breaks down and gets quite mushy or punky.
That mount will work Rob - your tranny has two bolts holding the transmission mount to the frame crossmember .
I could not locate an original GM two bolt mount for my '68, so I used a single bolt 'Ford' C4 transmission mount similar to the one you linked on eviBay, which necessitated drilling an additional hole in the centre of the crossmember between the existing bolt holes for the GM mount. While it bothered me at the time, ( ...as it was a FORD part), and not an original GM part, the single bolt Ford mount allowed me to get the car in proper running order, without the additional time, and hassel searching for an almost 'unobtanium' part.
Replace the tranny rear extension housing seal while your at it to extend the life span of the new mount, or buy two, so you have a spare !! LOL :TU:

    Hi Randy,

    Thanks for the information!
What about these two mounts Randy? I thought they look like the factory one?

I found out on CARS and TA Performance that I need the left one for sure.
Thanks Jason and Randy for your help!:TU:

Yep, one on the left...same one as mine. I did mine about 10 years ago...didn't drive the car much but the years of oil & leakage from the tail shaft took a toll. I just recently put a new one in about 2 months ago.

While they both have similar rubber mounting pads Rob, the one on the left is a two bolt diagonal mount that looks correct per the original mount - the one on the right is a single bolt mount, that would require drilling an additional hole in the centre of the cross member to allow it to fit. Looks like your good to go !! :TU:

This is a pic of the trans mount in my 69 Riv. Notice the diagonal bolts.

I never noticed the two bolts there Jason.

And Randy, i will have to look if it's an older oil leakage there because there is never a drip of ATF on the floor except
for some ATF in the trans mount area.

And thanks so much for all the information. You gentlemen are the best!

I got mine from CARS Inc. Although it looked and fit like the original its made in China. One of the molded in nuts spun lose inside of the mount and I could only get one bolt tight. Dont know if it will come back out if that time ever comes again.

Back in '98 when I replaced the original engine in my '70 with the one that came out of the '72 Electra I owned, I bought and installed a new mount from CARS.
Then, in '05 when I pulled the engine for a rebuild, I too found one of those molded in nuts was spinning inside the mount. I moved on and left the trans in the car and pulled the engine alone.
I have a new mount, but haven't dug into getting the old one out. Going to be a real bugger though since the heads of those bolts are recessed. Normally I would take a cut off wheel to it.

Just support the rear of the tranny Dale, unbolt the mount from the tranny, drop the tranny cross member - then have at it !! :Do No:
