Funny how back in the early 80s, I knew of a couple of NCCC "Pure Stock"/D Corvettes that were leaving Hard enough to Break 1/2 shafts @ HIR, and were in the 12's back then.
Mike Burr's was 1 that I remember Specifically.

Happy spring everyone. Dan has chatted about this for years and I am glad it has come about. It could infuse some fun factor for many of us again. Something new and different. As to some having potential, they do. My first car at 16 which I still have and have only driven 6K miles in 33 years is a '79 400 4spd T/A. With just a test pipe in place of the CAT, rejetted carb, and recurved distributor it would run 13.80's and 90's at 101 at Lapeer in the early 80's. No glue (has there ever been at Lapeer?), factory original tires and 3.23 gear. I would skip shifting into fourth as it didn't help. My brother and dad still have their '79's too. My dads is on original tires, spark plugs, cat converter... That car used to kill my friends Mustang GT's of the era without a single change from when it was shipped. These cars will go fast, or fast enough to giggle. I have raced a lot of cars, the K Code, 401 AMX and the like that have no chance at being as quick and they were a ball. Most won't threaten to many of the '71 and earlier cars but a 14.5 can be just the ticket to a good time.

I keep thinking a '79 H/O would be just about odd enough to try and find one. Or maybe an excuse to break out the '79. It has been a long time. I would need new tires and change the cam back to stock. The original is at Dan's so we could measure it, that is easy enough.

I just wish I could commit to the weekend, I won't know until the football schedule comes out. Hopefully see everyone soon at Martin.

Like I told Darrell Detweiler a few years ago. You can fully support your kids in sports, and missing one game and having someone record it for you is OK, so you can come race without destroying a kids childhood.:Smarty: It's JUST one game. Heck, a few years ago I made my Brother and sister-in-law change their wedding date because it was the same weekend as the PSMCDR. Her mother said "your kidding right?" I said absolutely not. I told them I didn't care when they had the wedding, but if they wanted me there it had to be a different weekend. I don't build a car all winter long to miss THE race of the year, aint happening.

I usually take that tact with Martin but this isn't Grant's game, I am a head coach for football. Mostly I have been able to blow out in time on Saturday. Jody has made a few passes like in the Boss for me two years ago when I couldn't wait any longer. Last year it was a Saturday afternoon game, not a night game.

I will try but it doesn't always fit, most years it does though. I always try.
