once I got it in it went smooth other than a trans pan leak that somehow mystieriously developed, but as I was driving it out of the garage the oil pump housing suddenly started puking oil, and I think I need a new one, but everything im seeing looks different than mine, did they change the housings at some point? mine has one bolt hole in the oil filter housing and everything im seeing even on ta performance has two in the filter

anyone know what the difference between the standard and metric oil pump covers is? like would the metric bolt up to a 455? also if anyone has a spare cover floating around Id love to take it off your hands, getting frustrated at lack of options with this search

What is the problem you are trying to resolve? I have a spare standard 455 filter adapter/housing. I think they are compatible but the metric one is oriented more forward and may use a different filter.

If it is scored badly, TA makes the booster plate that is steel and gives a fresh surface so that that pump pressure is restored new levels.

I broke one of the bolt holes while removing it, it was seized onto a broken bolt(which came out easily with vice grips once the housing was off) but I bit the bullet and ordered one online, i just hope it works because even ta performance has the "standard" housing clocked the same as the metric Also, there was like zero pump wear on the cover, and it was sitting stead at around 50 psi at idle

the 77 up b bodies share frames with a 73-77 a body. you just need a set of mounts from a regal or century.

it is but the only difference is its a slightly longer frame but is the same front and rear sections. a 98 caddi and electra is c body. the caprice lesabre 88 and prasiene or bonneville depending on year is a b. also the last rwd rviera is a b body as well. they all are initially the same exact frame and suspension as a 73-77 a body. the c body just had a longer section. idr if it was under the doors or around the gas tank however where gm threw in the longer channel.

different no mods, I just drilled the necessary holes and bolted them in, they are only maybe a half inch taller from what I can gather

speaking of old a-bodies, will the a body suspension parts fit my lesabre?

I'm not sure to what part of the oil pump cover broke off but I have read many times that on the Buick you have to pack the gears with petrolium jelly or vasoline in order to re prime the oil.
Just spinning the gears dry won't prime the oil.

i did that, thats how I cracked the pump cover, two bolts broke while i was removing it and in trying to get the seized on cover off those bolts i cracked one of the bolt holes off

You were taking off the pump cover to re prime the motor? Ugh:(
Maby take knuckle busted up for extra housing, he might just give you a good deal.

well, I got the new cover, it fit, but still leaking
I think I mightve messed up the housing while cleaning the old gasket off because i found out its not totally flat where the gasket seats

would using a thicker gasket fill in a slight dip in the surface?

Do you have a booster plate between the housing and the filter cover? The booster plate may afford you a bit more options. If the front cover is the part that isn't level, an extra gasket might change the clearances and cause issues with keeping good hot oil pressure.

I would try to get the cover flat again if you have any gouges or whatever.
