Racers, here's something to get your minds off of all the snow, sleet, & freezing rain.

Saturday May 31st, & Sunday June 1st, at Gateway International Raceway in Collinsville, Ill. (St. Louis), will be the first, of two Musclecar Reunion events for 2008.
The same folks who organized the MUSCLECAR REUNION last October in Kansas City, are planning two events for next year. They have again invited all FAST & FS racers who wish to participate. This will be a FAST / FS regional event. I will be coordinating the FAST cars, Rusty Small will coordinate the FS cars. If it goes like KCIR did last October, Rusty & I will just eat, race, & oogle all the cars.

For those of you who have not been to Gateway before, it is one heck of a track. The pit area is huge, it's all paved, and the track is easy to get to from several major hiways.

The Musclecar Reunion guys will be updating their website in the next few weeks, just look for www.musclecarreunion.com

I almost forgot to thank Rusty for getting this deal started in the first place. For those of you who don't know Rusty, he has a very special talent with telephones.:bla:

Are they expecting the same type of turnout from the rest of the racers? I second the notion that Gateway is awesome. I lived in STL for 2 years. Cool town.
I may have to come up to this one and maybe Juniorsupercar can come down from the 2nd City and race:)

Gateway is my "home town" track.
Just a heads up, be careful where you explore around that area. It's not the greatest residential area around there. Also, highway 40/64 in the St. Louis MO area will be closed due to construction causing more than usual traffic congestion, if coming from the West.

I'm going to attend the events, and look forward to seeing Buicks from out of town.

The closest hotels will be in Collinsville, IL, just east of the track on I-70...exit 11, I believe, on the same street as the Gateway Convention Center...there's a Holiday Inn, a Fairfield I believe, a Super 8, and a huge water park for the kids.

    Rob,

Which hotel should we look at as 'home base' for the FAST and F/S group?

Does anyone know the dates for Martin? Just trying to figure out what days I'm going to be to sick to work. Seems the older I get, the sicker I get. Almost forgot, should this be a "sticky."

I'm actually acquainted with one of those neighborhoods. I took a little detour on the way to Supercar reunion 7 or 8? Fortunately the "night shift" had gone home already. Now I know what B-17 crews felt like over Germany.

    Yeah,

Rusty called me a few weeks ago with the news. I am planning to make it out. Looks like a nice place from that PINKS event with the Tosto brothers episode....

Oh yeah, bring that thing out!

Jay, St. Louis is a lot like the place that YearOne rented down by Atlanta a few years ago. Braselton, Ga. I think.

    EXCELLENT analogy.
Now, imagine being shot down on a mission.

St. Louis, not unlike many other towns, has diverse demographics.

I lived and worked in St. Louis for 2 years. This statement is a fact..
..also the East side gentlemen's establishments have a well earned reputation. I highly recommend a tour of the Annheiser/Busch plant. Great tour and 2 free beers. Then go over with the kids to Grant's Farm (A&B property) and see glydesdales and other zoo type animals. Then visit the bar in the middle of the farm for more free beer. Tons of stuff in STL.
I plan on driving as much as Chris will let me drive his GT37!!

St. Louis is *10-times* the facility that Commerce is...and the neighborhood ain't that bad, you exit right off the interstate to the track or to the hotels, and there is an Illinois State Police station just down a couple blocks from all the hotels. We host an event every year @ Gateway & the convention center, and we've never had a problem.

Admittedly, I *was* worried in downtown St. Louis once...while returning from my first Pure Stock event (1999), I had my wife & 3 month old son with me...it was my usual, drive home through the night routine, was running low on gas around St. Louis around 1am, I know there's a station off the interestate down around the stadium, I exit in my black crew cab dually & enclosed trailer (with our Yenko Camaro inside)...as I come down the on ramp I see people EVERYWHERE...looks like a riot...people in the street, on the sidewalks, on the streetposts...I keep the dually moving, parting the people with the grill, they're banging on the sides of the trailer, my wife is FREAKING OUT, and then I see a huge banner..."BLACK EXPO". Needless to say, we didn't tarry long at the gas station! :eek2:

You can find some nice vacation videos there.

I can recommend "Lacledes Landing" for nightlife in downtown St. Louis.
(Missouri side) Just don't park your ""Pure" stocker" there.
It's real close to the track, and on the edge of the Mississippi river.

If anyone wants to know more about St. Louis MO, and E. STL, IL, feel free to contact me directly.
As for the PS race program, I don't know a thing about it....sorry.

    I'll second that recommendation!!!

however, I'm willing to bet the host hotel parking lot will be all the nightlife we need :Brow:
