    UPDATE

I talked to Chris Schnieder a few hours ago, the track will be open on Friday May 30th (the day before the race). THERE WILL BE NO TUNE & TEST TIME........but he encouraged those of us who could, to get there on friday for check-in and tech inspections.

If you are planning on attending this event, you'll save yourself a lot of time waiting in line, by showing up on Friday. Those of you who have waited in line at Bristol, Lebanon Valley, the Nats, or even KCIR last year, know how much TRACK TIME you could potentially save. The Stanton and Martin lines are tame in comparison to what we'll have at St. Louis.

Chris also told me that we could camp out or stay overnight at the track, but that there are NO CAMPING hook ups. You'll either be self contained, or you'll have to "rough it".

The track hotel (Collinsville Holiday Inn) will not be offering the discount for reservations AFTER THIS SATURDAY, May 3rd.

The pre-registration deadline for this race is May 16th.
One driver and car is $75 total.
Pit crew over age 16 will be $45 total.
Age 7 to 16 will be $25 total.
Age 7 & under can be smuggled in the gate by riding in the trunk or hiding in coolers.............

And last but not least, if enough folks show up on Friday, Rusty & I will break out the BBQ grills and have a little racer appreciation party.

Anyone who wants more info, can call me or Rusty, and we'll fill in any details that may have been left out.

    Steve 785 766 8510
    Rusty 816 309 5961

PS I'll be bringing the CUDA & CHALLENGER to this event (my chevy's are still in boxes). If we can get a preliminary car count started, let's start now.

I snail mailed my registration in earlier this week

how late will the track be open fri? I probably won't get there until 10-11pm fri night.

what do you mean, no tech in the dark

unless I confused things, which is very possible, I thought adult admission was $40 for a weekend pass. I have someone coming with and she'll be with me both in the pits and watching in the stands. Hell, she can drive a stick, so she may run the car :bglasses:

    Chris,

The track will be open @ 2 in the afternoon and tech will close at 7 PM. The gates will be closed @ 8. Trailers can stay overnight and the facuilty will be locked down and secure. We are going to have all of the FAST/ FS players pit together. Please let us know so that we can reserve enough pit stalls. I assume that you are coming, so I will go ahead and place your name on the list.

Also, I hate to burst anyones bubble, but this will not be like Martin or Staton where you can run enough laps to burn up a tank of gas. Last Year at KCIR, they had close to 400 cars. We ended up with 3 tune up laps and 2 qualifing runs on Saturday (under the lights as qualifying will be here). Sunday will be strictly eliminations. Get there and be ready to rumble.

Regretfully, will not be able to make it. Sounds like a really great time. I heard from boogerracing last night that he and the solid axle gassers are going to be there. Not sure if Greg with the "Class Reunion" Olds powered 51 Chev will make that (long way from Scranton, Pa).

Believe me, you won't mind not running so many T & T's with all the neat stuff there. I spent more time walking around the pits and at the fence watching the gassers and old Super Stockers run than in the pits at York last summer.

Check with Dave McCutcheon (green 72 SS Chevelle Pure Stocker). He's from that area.

Anybody driving down from anywhere around here for this? Looking for a ride. Can share expenses. Wanna go, can't afford to run my truck to many of these away meets.

Can you put me down as a "maybe"...LOL! Our return flight from Florida is either late Thursday or late Friday night prior the event, but dad *is* planning to be there with Red Alert, and I *assume* he'll take the yellow car up as well...but with 3 locations now, if we're busy @ work, then I'm hosed...and of course, that *may* be the weekend we start playing baseball, and the kids just might like the coach to be there...which is gonna make it sticky to get to Martin as well!!!!

    Hey Rob,

Just make certain that your Dad has his helmet. There is no way that the yellow sub shows up and doesn't run!!! Just make sure that Johnny shows up to tune your Dad!:TU: Amazing how that whole being a Dad thing has a tendency to take up some of your time!! Hope all is well!

    Hi guys!

I just spoke with the organizer of the race and he was asking when you guys were going to get off your duff and get registered??? He said that so far that only 3 have paid their registration for FAST racing. Also, this may be the most important thing for getting registered early, you get to park the rigs inside the pits and get your car teched on Friday night!!!! To get this treatment, you must be preregistered by the 16th! Here is the direct link to the registration for Gateway: http://www.musclecarreunion.com/Gateway/register.htm

The number of people that have registered is disturbing me because of the number of people I whave talked with saying they have registered. If you have registered, please contact me via PM. I want to make sure that everyone is accounted for and that we are all registered for FAST racing. Thanks in advance and I we have some good numbers. They were saying that the reponse for this event in all catagories is HUGE!!!!

Still time for the early pre-registration! This insures that you can park in the pits on Friday and can get your car teched on Friday! This means alot as they will have (I am guessing here) over 400 cars in the event!

Anyone who is going to make it, please let Steve and I know. We will stake out pit spaces so that we can all be one happy family! This includes everyone that does not make the preregistration deadline. This should be a great time. Steve and I are extremely happy to be having this event in our backyard (okay, so we have a big back yard!!) and we hope that this gets to be a regular event on the calendar.

got my registration confirmation in the mail today.

I have tomorrow off, so I should be able to finish up several things on the car. related side note, I've been talking to the third owner of my GT-37 and he and his dad are most likely gonna make it to STL for the event. He's very interested in meeting me and seeing the car. A car he regrets selling.

I had a very productive conversation today with Chris Schneider regarding the amount of track time we would have at St. Louis next weekend. For anyone not familiar with Chris, he is one of the prime organizers of the event and he is in charge of the racing schedule. Chris is a racer too, so he understands that we want as much track time as possible. Chris has guaranteed us AT LEAST 4 T&T PASSES with the POSSIBILITY OF 3-4 more depending on track conditions, i.e. oil-downs, break-downs, rain, ect. ect. This is great news and it couldn't come at a better time. Chris also told me that FOR F.A.S.T. & F.S. RACERS ONLY, he will make sure that any FAST/FS racer at the gate on Friday, will be admitted, REGARDLESS OF PRE-REGISTRATION STATUS. Chris made this offer specifically because of concerns raised by some of our racers who were at KC last fall (Spetz, I hope you read this) who only had 1-2 T&T runs. Chris told me we were the easiest class to run through the lanes because we knew what we were doing and do not feel the need to do John Force burnouts while wasting valuable track time. This was a very generous offer, especially when you realize that they have 250+ cars registered already. If any of you ever wanted to know what the Bristol Bash was like back when the F.A.S.T. series was pretty new, this is going to be a close second to that event, in short, it's going to be a lot of fun. Get off the fence and show up to this one!

I'm just now catching up with this thread. Couple questions:

Are they accepting walk-ons? I did not pre-register.

I see "Trophy 14.00 or slower" class. Is that pretty much just a general bracket class that anyone can compete in? I don't see this particular class in the event schedule. My car will most likely be in the 14.20 range, running drag radials.

Adam, pre-registration will be waived only for the FAST/FS cars, as per my conversation with Chris Schnieder on Saturday. This was done to keep racers from missing passes while sitting in the tech line. If your car fits into the Factory Stock class, bolt on a set of "skinnies" and run with us. Your tires don't have be a correct sized reproduction bias ply, they can also be a comparable sized radial equivalent. Get hold of Rusty if you're interested.

    Hi guys,

We need to get a solid head count so that we can save spots in the pits. I have not looked at the weather forecast, but I am sure it will be steamy!!!!! I am getting geeked for this. Steve and I will be there around 2 or shortly after (the gates open at 2 on Friday). If anyone has any questions, pm me or give me a ring on my cell (816) 309-5961.

Here is the NOAA forecast :http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Collinsville&state=IL&site=LSX&textField1=38.6784&textField2=-89.9973&e=0
