    Let's here it, guys !

How did you run ? Who did you Run ? Anything cool happen ??

    I know I had a freaking blast

Thrashed my azz off to get there, got there, and ran OK.

Qualified at 13.42 and was paired up with Ty Taccone.

    I ran 13.32 13.32 13.38 to his 13.52 13.52 13.57

so, as you can see, he was much more consistent than I was

The whole weekend was great, so many good friends to visit with, so much to see and do, and to top it off my son made his first passes in the Corvette

He is solidly in the 13 second club with a best run of 13.72 @ 101 plus

Special thanks to Scotty McKenzie for driving all the way from New York City to provide us with his company, and to drag my early Christmas present with him.

Some days, I think I'd like to attend the race without a car so I can do and see more of the great people and great cars. And now my son agrees that I should attend and not race :eek2:

Thanks to the event organizers for all they do !

364 days till we do it again, so in about 340 days, I'll take the car apart

Had a blast, car was slower than I expected with the automatic and the driver was inconsistent on the lights. The people all made up for the mechanical issues. Had a lot of questions and hope I gave interesting answers. I had missed this. Thanks to the Remlingers for the lunch and the lessons on Korean Peppers?

We sure had fun with the 66. Got lucky with the match, but hurt the car. Ran best of 13.40 something at 104+, first time out. Hurt something, smoking white pretty strong out of the right pipe. Hope it's just a head gasket, but will find out and fix it.

Thanks to Dan and the group again, our 15th year here. My personal thanks to Thomas the shoe, and Thomas the crew chief for making it possible for me. ..and to all the friends from over the years, especially the ones that fed me. LOL.

    Frank,

Thanks for taking the time to show and explain all the neat things about your car. My son and I loved it! You and your car are exactly what make the Pure Stocks such a super event.

Showed up Thursday Morning to Heavy Tech Rhondas 69 Olds Cutlass , Passed with Flying colors. Turns out it was the ONLY car to actually Heavy tech. It ran what it always does with the 3.73s in ( I wanted to put the 4.33s back in But Rhonda said NO!!:( ) She Qualified 13.77@100
She got paired with Seth with the green 360 duster from Indiana.

My Blue L89 Deluxe 300 Qualified 12.13@116 on Friday morning while we had some rubber on the track, As the track went away so did the times. Got some Bugs to work out of the car. Got paired with Scotty and his KILLER A12. both had 12.13@116 Qualifiers
1st round.. was close both ran 12.30s side by side! Was awesome fun but he nosed me by a fender
2nd round.. I went up in FLAMES, the farther he got ahead the harder I pushed the pedal:grin: Blew me away
3rd round.. I threw 160lbs in the trunk hoping to hook, we left side by side but all it did was SLOW ME DOWN!
I'll get you next year Scotty, Or at MIR !!!!!

Can't wait for next year, I'll be ready this time. Would even like to CERTIFY the car

Ran the 64 Studebaker Hawk with the supercharger. I knew I had a battle as my qualifying was a 14.765 ans hi was a 14.715. First round he spun bad and I got it. Overambitious on the second round and I red lighted. 3rd round was clean for both of us, similar reaction times, I had a quicker 60ft and 1/8th, he pulled me by a fender at the top end. Hurt the car on the way home, it gets tore down tonight or wednesday night. I had an absolute blast, met some more of the gang in person and put face to the names. Frank, your car is FANTASTIC!

I think she ran that 77 vs me.

I was fighting issues all weekend as the car was off on ET and MPH. We had an idea of what it might be and confirmed it after Rd 1 Sat when I barely cracked 105mph. The fact that it hestitated at the top of gears 1, 2 and 3 kinda gave it away too - fuel pump. So I short shifted the 1-2 in Rds 2 and 3 and got back 2-3 mph. I did pick up a tenth consistently on Sat and was running 13.teens. I ran Steve D from Colorado in the silver 64 R3 Stude. qualified 13.21 to his 13.17. Tree'd him round one and ran a best ever at Stanton 2.01 60 ft. He lit the red bulb in round 2 where I ran my best ET of the weekend, 13.10 @ 108 and change. Round 3, I treed him bad like .074 to .350, 60s were near identical 2.12/2.14 and I never looked back.

Big Thanks to Dan, Dennis and Lyndon and everyone else who helps run this event. AWESOME time as always

I think all the Stude people had a great time. George's '64 R 3 Challenger (Plain Brown Wrapper) ran the best time ever and my '63 R 2 Lark (Stude Tomato) ran its best time ever at Stanton. Ran a quicker time at Muncie but the thing about this is we drafted a driver that had not been in the car once this year and he did a tremendous job of driving. He is John Kern, son of Chuck that usually has his white R 2 Avanti there but Chuck's wife is in the hospital so he didn't make it this year. Guess John is showing me it might be time to start thinking about stepping down.

The times of the Wrapper and Tomato were too close together for me to drive both this year.

The Tomato was paired with Steve Hodge's beautiful '64 426 Plymouth and fortunately for us Steve just could not get the Sport Fury to hook. He was off at least a full half second! Steve still managed to win the first round and John won the second and third round. The second round was the best for the Tomato with a 12.740 @ 110.47 mph. The best at Stanton had been a 12.85. The third time was 12.871 @ 111.00 mph.

George drew Owen Simpson's sharp Yenko Duece and was able to win all three rounds but Owen was not on his qualifying time. The third run, the Challenger turned its best ever time anywhere of 12.61? @ 112.?? George has the time slips so I don't recall the exact numbers after the decimals. Its best previous was 12.66 at 114.??

We were REALLY fortunate this year as both cars were turning their best 60' times ever at Stanton. We assumed they were prepping the track different or ? but everyone we asked said their 60' times were no better than before. We didn't do anything different to either car to warrant better times??

Want to thank Dan, Dennis, and Lyndon for all their hard work and we are already looking forward to next year.

    Ted

Need to make a correction on the Tomato winning the second and third round. John broke out with the 12.74 on a qualifying 13.05 time so Steve and his Plymouth won the shoot out.

Raced Donny and his vette. I lost all three but had a great time. Like Donny said the times were almost the same for all three runs!! My car ran it's best ever with a 13.43!! Want to give a special thanks to the crew of PSMCDR. Best event of the year. And a HUGE thanks to Karen and Frank for all they do with the food. Looking forward to next year.

WHAT A GREAT WEEKEND!!!!!!! Would like to thank Dan and crew for putting on a great show n go..

A few weeks ago when i seen a post of Tim running a 12.19 i had a feeling i was gona be paired with him..

When i seen Tim lay down that 12.13 first run i was taken back and knew i had my work cut out..
    So now i stage and run a 12.70 and then a few 30's 40's..

Bob K. asks what springs im running and told him and he said to put stiffer springs in..SO i stage in hit the pedal
and off i go and get that 12.13 at 116.. Now the stage is set for some awsome heads up racing..

Tim your a good man, very competative and a true sportsman..

BTW how did that vidio come out?

My goodness, but it sure warms the heart to see the four Studey's (one of each that I counted: Avanti, Challenger, Lark, and Hawk GT) racing in the pics posted in the other PSMCDR thread. Congratulations to the Studey folks for racing, not to mention putting wear and tear on what must be rather tough to find parts and components. When I was a kid in the 1970's, I walked to elementary school every day in northern Minnesota and always had to look at the Hawk GT parked on the street while the next three driveways to school had parked an International Harvester (IH) Scout, an IH Travellall, and a Studey Champ pickup. Great eye candy for a little boy who appreciated cars.

The strangest pic I seen of the PSMCDR was a 73 Buick Riviera racing a 64 Cheby Impala. I presume the Impala had the 409 engine while of course the Riv had the 455 BBB with perhaps Stage One as well. I presume the Cheby won, but hopefully the Riv gave the Cheb all it could handle. I believe that the 73 Riviera was the heaviest Buick ever made and tipped the scales upwards of 5050 pounds.

    Chris Jones Pit bicycles rule!

    I raced a 66 Olds 442 W-30. Roger was his name, I believe.
I felt generous during round one and gave him the win by lighting the red bulb.
Round 2, I was back to business. Got the better reaction time and won that one.
Round 3, I still had the better reaction time but my right foot was a little to heavy and he was able to get out ahead and stay there. I was trying to reel him in but our cars were very evenly matched. We both qualified with almost identical times, his 13.597 to my 13.591. We were also both running 106mph for qualifying.
    Good close racing.

My qualifying run of 13.591@106mph is a new personal best. WOOHOO!!!
That was the highlight of my weekend.

Thanks to Dan, Dennis, Lyndon, Mid Michigan Staff and everyone else involved for a great event.

My original pairing was Jody in the 74 GTO. Guess he lost a water pump. Got to race Cameron Payne in the 64 Impala. I had the advantage of a couple of tenths. I qualified at 14.82 and I think he qualified around 15.15. First round .061 light 14.926 to .196 light 15.338. Second round I lit the big red eye and ran 14.794, My best time of the weekend. Cameron had a.001 light 16.158. Third round he lit the red light and ran 15.980. I had a.192 light and ran 14.851. Cameron's a good sport and cuts some good lights. Had a great time. Did anyone else notice how far off the scale was? My car weighs 5060 with me in it and I was told 4200? Thanks to Dan, Dennis, and Lyndon for a well run event.

I was matched up against Bob Telep and his 1969 Camaro SS 396/375. His 13.230 vs. my 13.233. Saturday with the Dodge I lost 1 tenth and 1 mph vs. Friday. I kept the hood shut and didn't play with jetting on Saturday morning when the air was worse on Saturday. I lost the 2 out of 3. Bob cut a great tree every round and unless I can get ahead of any big block car at the start, they will run me down at the end. For two rounds we were even thru the first two gears but when we hit third, the BB Chevy pulled away. Bob lost a rocker arm during Round 2. He borrowed one from the Richards' crew between rounds and made it back for Round 3. Great effort by Bob!

Was great to see our infamous pit mates again this year with Hodge, Taccone, Rusty, Mark, and Joe.
