Over the next few days I will be posting all the info regarding the GSR class. There will.be a couple of rules changes in place as well as new sponsors on board . So check back periodically ,can't wait to get back out there and get at it.
Happy New Year Ethan!!!!! Hope your holidays were great. Lemme know if there is anything I can help ad you in. Sent you a pm with my # if you want to chat. Take care and great job so far with this class
2021 GSR RULES A few changes have been made that will further promote the "Fast with Class" motto that i think most of us try to achieve and love seeing, they are as follows 64 THRU 76 Abody BUICK BODIED AND BUICK POWERED 1. The exhaust rule that was implemented last year remains. Car must have exhaust that extends past the front seats and have a combined case length of at least 12in per side, Full exhaust is of course encouraged but NOT required 2. NO TRANSBRAKES 3. NO ELECTRONICS INCLUDING TWO STEPS 4. NO THROTTLE STOPS/RESTRICTOR PLATES 5. NO WHELLIE BARS 6. NO AIRSHIFTERS 7. INTERIOR, Door panels, package tray, carpet, dashpad must be in place. Now im not asking that you have to restore the interior but the inner workings of doors and inner structure need to be covered with OE type material/ panels. Aluminum sheet by itself will no longer be allowed. There must be either a bench seat or two bucket/racing seats in place, any shifter, gauges etc are fine Exterior: NEW FOR 2019 car must be painted the same color. Paint must be applied with a gun, not a rattle can. Hoodscoop cannot exceed 6in overall height. No primer areas, no rust holes, no decals or lettering on the body other than pinstripes, factory decals etc. Two tone paint, custom paint are fine. Black hoods are fine but thats where it will stop. It would be nice to see the windows cleaned up a bit also. A few are fine but windows that are completely covered should be avoided. This is obviously being implemented to further our progress as becoming our own unique class and not a slower version if super 16. Most the guys take pride in how their car looks and so should you. As each car is a reflection of us as a group. If you or a representative for you are not present for the RACER MEETING when the bracket is set. You will not be allowed in. It's your responsibility to be where you need to be. 8. NO DEEPSTAGING ALLOWED, DOING SO WILL RESULT IN A DQ. Since this is now a FOOTBRAKE class it is the responsibility of the racer to know his or her car , if your brakes sometimes wont hold X amount of RPM on the line and rolls thru the first beam then your out . Use the qualifying runs to determine what you need to do. 9. FASTEST QUALIFYING TIME IS YOUR DIAL IN,...PERIOD. IN the event you only get on qualifying run that will be your dial in. 10. Lane choice will be decided by the luck of the draw when drawing for the brackets 11. Lets try and get to the lights together, if you see your opponent heading to the beams you should do the same 12. If in the event of a double breakout, the greater margin of breakout is eliminated 13. We will run on a .400 Pro Bracket Tree 14. If you are entered in another class it is YOUR responsibility to be in the lanes in time. If not you will lose the round or the qualifying pass NO exceptions . I will however do my absolute best to keep racers that are in multiple classes informed of when to be where, but in the end its the racers responsibility 15. Obviously a red light, faster than dial in or deepstage will result in a DQ. 16. In the event of Mechanical Failure in eliminations the other racer will advance and the other is out. 17. Pairings will be drawn for, byes are determined by the NHRA ladder that we will run off of. 18. ANY POWERADDER,CID,TIRE,CARB,FUEL CELL,HOOD SCOOP, GAUGES,ROLL CAGE etc etc are all legal SAFTEY: You know what you need to be safe AND to keep the guy next to you safe. If I see something that needs to be addressed regarding safety, I have no problem pointing it out and will do so. If I see something that will or could endanger anyone it will need to be fixed before you can compete in GSR I may add a few things as they come to me to help nail down any potential problems or situations that may arise during an event but this more than likely will cover everything for the most part. While i understand the above is a significant change from the past GSR races, I believe this is the direction we should pursue and 90% of the cars already fit the above criteria and will encourage more guys to come race with us that have been turned off by the purpose built bracket car lined up beside them. I know this because i was approached by quite a few guys that were/are extremely interested in running in GSR this year and that is what a concern was. Everyone that approached me loved the Good looking and hard running group of cars and that is goal to have the class that people talk about and motivate them to get the car loaded up and come race. And to any racers looking for help with there combo , tips ,tricks, ideas etc the group of guys that participate in GSR are all more than willing to help. My goal for this year is $2500 to win and $500 runnerup its a goal not a promise, but very doable all the same. So in closing i look forward to seeing a full field of cars and some new faces. Nevermind the whole is this the last year or is it stuff, just come out and race and the rest will fall into place!! I will start of with $500 and any other Sponsor feel free to PM or Post your Donation here on this thread and i will update it. No amount is too small it all adds up. THANKS Ethan
Gave it a quick glance and it looks like you have covered all the corners and concerns of last year. I'll study it a little more when I get more time. Great job Ethan
A couple questions, Does no electronics mean no 2 steps? Are restricter plates permitted? I assume no electronics also means no delay boxes, which are useless on a 4 tenths tree anyway, can one be in the car just disconnected like I did last year. yep, lots of concerns ,trans brake, wheelie bar cars, delay boxes just dominated this class last 2 years..NOT Doubt I and other cars that fit the class last year can play this year. Hope for your continued success,it sure is a fun class to race.
Your Correct Gary, hardly any cars were using boxes, wheelie bars, transbrakes, air shifters etc I looked every car over myself, and the very reason for going ahead and not permitting them, thats that many more things we can keep out thats not even there ie trimming the Fat of a "run what you brung " previous setup. Best of my knowledge there were 3 cars last year that wouldn't fit this years rules and all 3 were told by me that it will be a Footbrake class, so due notice was given there. As to the interior and no electronics that would only be issue to maybe two at best.
Your car will fit just fine , as long as it meets the interior rule and the box is disconnected. 2steps are fine , I actually meant to add that the other day and forgot, restrictor plates I will consider. Here's the thing all the handicaps take the racer out of the equation to a degree. Now im no points chasing bracket racer and don't know the in's and outs's of what this box does or how it works or doesn't with one tree or another. All I know is I want to make this a racers class that anybody can jump into and not be intimidated by the weekend "bracket racer". For every 1 bracket car there is 10 homebrewed street bruiser or strip toy to replace it. Now im certainly not trying to run any one individual or individuals out of the class, my job is to attract new guys and build the class thats priority no1 for me.
I understand that we possibly will be down on racers this year due to the Cecil County Meet, but backtracking is not an option for me. I once again implore any of you guys coming to the Nats or on the Fence about it to load the car up, finish the car, borrow or buy the car, but come and mix it up with us this year
I can fit based on your clarification except for the wheelie bar set up, thats why I would like to use a restrictor plate to kill some launch if I can't use the wheelie bars. Otherwise I'm on the bumper and I won't race anywhere if I don't feel safe. gary
I should consider that ,especially since its being upgraded with a procharger for extra fun. Then it won't be a 10 second car anymore. gary
If ur not using a transbreak you shouldn't be on the bumper? Therefore you won't need bars to keep you safe.
What about switchpitch timer boxes, aka the Bruce Roe box? All it does is control the high stall/low stall function of the converter. You might have only 1 or 2 in the class running it. But would apply to anyone still running a ST400 trans.
switch pitch controllers are fine as are ignition boxes, high speed retards etc, reaction time devices are whats not allowed
Was just reviewing the 2016 GSR rules and wanted to get some input on the "interpretation" of the rules for this year's race: 2. NO TRANSBRAKES I assume this also means NO 2-STEPS ? Based on the largest FOOTBRAKE race in the country, their rules clearly state that Transbrakes and 2-Steps are not allowed because they are considered a starting line enchancer. Please see link and scroll to the bottom of the flyer for rules http://www.worldfootbrakechallenge.com/wfc.html I would like to know if this rule will be enforced or not. 4. NO THROTTLE STOPS I assume this also means NO RESTRICTOR PLATES ? Based on the manufacturer of the best selling restrictor plate system, you can clearly see if gives an advantage to the car and driver that has one. Please see link http://restrictorplate.com/about.html I would like to know if this rule will be enforced or not. Sorry for bringing this up late in the game.....just need some clarification before thinking about making the trip. Thanks,
