Well mine is hand painted under clear coat, so to remove it mean a complete vehicle paint job, which honestly wont happen. In fact if I ever paint again it will be the exact same, dad picked the name.

So if it's a no go for that then it is what it is.

But I figured best to ask now when I have all winter to make changes

Some purple vinyl wrap over it would be fine. Provided it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb

So white vinyl wrap over "Thumper" would be ok too then?

?????? Hmmmmmm, it will be hard to get vinyl to look correctly I think. It doesn't show well in the pictures, but there is a continued color faded to the darker shade as it goes down the car, and in the purple is all hand painted stars????

Plus the letters extend up into the green slightly and would still be visible, I personally think that would make it look more trashy and pull the wrong attention than just the lettering.

So guessing this cuts me out. :(

But hey the rules are rules,

As a guy looking to run this in the future, along with S-16, the No lettering/Stickers thing is the only issue I see here.

Letter and car names and stickers are a tradition, that goes back to the very early days of drag racing. Consider all the well know Buick race cars of the day, most every one had some type of name or moniker on it.

This class wants fast cars that look stock... and IMHO lettering/stickers do not detract from the stock look.

Fiberglass body parts don't remotely look stock, and to allow those and not lettering, is a logic that is beyond me.

Look at NHRA Stock Elim... I mean we are talking cast iron and Q-jet in that class, and there is no issue lettering cars.

I think that this rule is going to keep your car count down.

My advice is to reconsider it.

We have plenty of car count,..I don't want nor need a bunch of super 16 bracket racers in it,. That's why there is super 16...there will be a tire limitation in the future as well,...we have been averaging 14 car field for 3 years now,..we will be at 20 cars within two years.,...the goal is CLEAN,..hard running cars

Well my car is far from a quick 16 car, what is the tire size going be limited to.......just curious. My car clearly is just not going to fit into this class, and that's just the way it is

Pretty much any car that meets the interior rule will have all steel body panels by default,...hoods and bumpers aside. Glass doors if prepped properly can look just fine, as can hoods.

Sure you take a glass door out of the box and and rattle can primer it and halfass paint it,..I'm going to send you walking. When guys like Perry,Vinny,Steve,Zaffino,Rocco,Pete,Myself,..etc etc can build cars that run 10s and 9s on 28 10.50s and 275 drag radials and pull low 1.40s and mid 1.30's,..off the footbrake and clicking our own gears then so should others,..and look good doing it then they deserve to run with like kind cars. I'll be the first to say I've hurt a few guys feelings about their car,..but something that is all lettered up just looks trashy imo and when all the other cars aren't then they stick out like a sore thumb,..when there are several scattered in there with contingency stickers and car name etc well now it's just a Saturday bracket race class at your local track. This is not we or me wants to see,...think of it this way GSR is simply a spinoff of GSE that while wildly popular was VERY competitive and being heads up very frustrating for for the slower guys. We want the same caliber of cars but putting them in a pro bracket gives even the 11.50 car a shot at winning

Regarding the POTENTIAL tire rule for 2021,..it will be a very liberal size,. So don't go getting sand in your vaginas just yet,....

This is an amazing class! I’ve run in it now two years in a row and I think it’s awesome! Keeping the rules tight is a great idea in my opinion it defines the class!

And a .008 loss is hard to live with…

Best d*mn class at the Nats in my opinion. Whether I get to (try to) run again or not, I love watching this class. The cars are sharp and run HARD, helluva combo.

I tried recruiting several cars this year and every car owner thought it was a heads up class. Spread the word that it’s a bracket class and the fastest qualifying run will be your dial in. Anyone can win, huge payouts, great guys, and very nice cars.

The rules are what the rules are. I don't understand why some want to run our class, but want US to fudge the rules to fit their cars. Jim,this isn't NHRA stock elim that allows lettering, this is GS-R. Besides, there are billions of dollars being spent by sponsors in stock elim that want their names and brands advertised on the cars they are sponsoring. Putting the nickname you call your car in the paint design isn't allowed with them and certinatily not in our class. IMHO.....I think lettering looks cheesy and tasteless for a "street car" look. Cody Gamble's our highest sponsor and we all run one of his decals on our glass because he asks us to. Com'on now JW,you're smarter than that comment. As far as fiberglass parts,a great body guy can make them look stock with lots of prep work. Ethan would know,he is one. Plus,it's kind of hard to run fiberglass doors with stock panels and working stock hardware and glass. We also have any issues with car numbers

I kinda like the appearance rules keeping things a bit more tame ("clean" if you will) just because I feel like this class is almost a rolling show class for higher hp cars. Seriously, the majority of these cars are stupid clean compared to what you'd see at your average saturday afternoon staging lanes. While I'm all for being welcoming to fellow Buick enthusiasts, boundaries have to be set somewhere and IMHO what Ethan and the others involved in organizing the class have done has set it apart and given GSR a really cool identity. If you look at the GSR cars lined up compared to almost any other class, you can really see a slick "theme" that a lot of people seem to really enjoy.

I plan on attending in 2020. Seems like a spin off of old GSE.

It will be the first time for me bringing a car to BG.

I'm not bent out of shape. Reading into it all wrong. Just simply standing our ground on the rules. We haven't had any issues with getting cars and our count goes up every year, not to mention the spectators. Plus we've been asked to run our class in another event. I don't believe GSE ever did,so I think what we are doing is working. Thanks for your input and trying to help tho
