Skylark trim should be a dead give away.

 

I wouldn't call it a "dead" give away if that trim was on... I have seen a few GS 350's/ 400's where the owner added that side trim on. I also remember Chris Pappe or Gasoline had a Stage 1 that had the trim- from the factory.

Personally, I go by the hard fast rules when I look at a GS or possible Stage 1: VIN, body tag (build plant), paperwork, then numbers. There's only a few other small things I look for to solidify my purchase... I also perform RESEARCH. I scour this board, google search, look through my archives, talk with the other step children (cjp69, DL, 69gs400's), to see if they recall ever discussing/ sending a lead about a car, the Stage 1 Registry, etc... It's rare that someone on here hasn't heard about one of these cars..
