Finally secured a spot to work on the Electra, now everything must go. This was somebody's daily driver. Assume that any and all parts are "driver" quality or worse. I'd be happy to take specific pictures for you of a part, but please don't waste my time, its a 20 mile trip to get to the car. This car has everything, if I don't have what you want listed, ask or make an offer. Engine and transmission are not for sale. You'll pay the real cost of shipping, no markup. Car is triple green.

Radiator Top Plate- 20 (copperheadgs is first in line)
Charcoal Canister- 20 (copperheadgs is first in line)
Core Support- 50 (condition unknown, if its rotted I'll drop the price)
Inner fenders- 20 ea (same, rot=cheap)
    Grill- 50
    Front Bumper- 50
    Side Glass- 20 each
    Headlight buckets- 6 ea/ 20 set
Buick Motor Division Hubcaps- 6 ea/ 20 set
    Front Turn Signals- 10 ea
    Hood Ventiports- 20 set
    Trim- 5 any piece
    Hood- 50
    Hood springs- 10 ea
    Hood latch- 10
Doors- 50 ea (including inner panel, handles, glass, anything else I am too lazy to remove)
Fenders- 20 ea (rotted behind the wheels, repairable)
    Side mirror- 15
    Skirts- 20 ea
Power bench assembly- 100 (100% complete, doesn't work in all directions)
    Rear view mirror- 10
    Seatbelts- 10 ea
    Emblems- 5 any piece
    Taillights- 20 ea
    Rear Bumper- free
    Deck lid- 40

I kind of want to keep the car rollable, but money talks...

This car has factory front disc brakes, need something from them, make me an offer.

Factory positraction rear end, make me an offer.

Car has power windows, I don't know anything about those kind of parts, ask me. System seems to not work very well.

Anything else, ask ask ask. Want to know details about a part, want pictures, ask ask ask. Follow board rules, post here then PM.

    General photos of the car:

    Hello,
I would be interested in both inner fenders, core support and the passenger side door. Also the fan shroud if in good shape. Lower a/c vents on both sides of dash. Pot metal pieces that surround headlites It would ship over to Denver 80121. By bus would be great.

I will start pulling those for you Jim. I am going to hold on to the fan shroud, but the rest should be good to go. By Greyhound I am thinking shipping will be in the $100 range- I'll get the parts pulled and weighed and get you a total.

    Mike ,
While there have a look at the date code on the sector shaft cover on top of the steering box?
    Looking for 007 1 or close. Ex: 005 1,006 1,008 1, 009 1 etc..
I know you want to keep it rolling but I can send you another cover.
    No rush, at your convenience.

I'll check it out for you ASAP, either Thursday or Saturday. I can probably live without a cover, it just has to roll well enough to make it onto the wrecker in a couple weeks...

    Mike,
I keep thinking of bits. Are the seat belts black?? If so I would be interested.
Does the car have the original speakers for the radio? if so and usable would be interested also. Are the levers on the steering column in good shape? How about the sheet metal for the trunk floor? Does the speedometer have a trip odometer and speedminder??
    Thanks
    Jim :TU:

I am looking for this clip off of the throttle rod if you have it. Also, what gear ratio is the posi rear end?

    Thanks,

Hello Mike, Im in search for the lower speedometer cable which comes from the transmission and goes into the cruise master unit. My cable has an upper plastic end which broke away b/c I had a blocked cruise master some days ago. If your cable is still good and also has this plastic end I would like to buy it. I want to have a cable with a plastic end b/c I cant be sure that the cruise master will not be blocked again and in this case a plastic end is a good ensurance to prevent the unit from greater damage.

BTW : If there is any one out who knows where I could buy such a cable new WITH an upper end made of plastic I would be glad for an info. !

Mike, how much do you want for your cruise master unit - if its still okay - ? I could take it as a spare for the case that mine would be blocked again some day.

What I further would like to buy - if its still nice - is the center cross of the steering wheel with the wood grain and the BUICK letters - the part which is used to engage the horns. If no one would take the complete steering wheel I would buy this part.

Hey, also the rear view mirror at the windshield seems to be still nice (?) so that I would buy that one too.

Thanks for checking the parts in advance !

    Updates.

I believe the code was something like 168 1. I didn't bother writing down exactly what it was, as it sounds pretttty far from your date. Too bad.

The seat belts are green, unfortunately. Still need to check on the speakers, the car has an aftermarket stereo but I believe still the original speakers. Where are they, in the dash above the glovebox or? The shifter lever has a chip in the plastic "chrome." The turn signal/cruise lever is nice, as is the tilt. I don't believe the speedo has a trip or speed alert, but I need to double check. By the time I got around to looking at parts it was already quite dark :Dou: . Inner fenders and core support are almost out though, they look pretty nice.

Unfortunately I am going to be holding onto all engine related parts until I am positive of what I am going to need for my swap.

As for the rear, this is what I know about it: Its under a 71 Electra, looks original, and has the blue "use limited slip" tag. It will spin both the tires on gravel, only one on the street. The car has air, so I would guess 3.23 or 3.42, but I really have no idea.

I will check out the condition of the cable. Unfortunately I forgot to test the cruise control before I took the car off the road, so I could not guarantee the cruise master, but I could sell it to you for cheap, I'll check it out Saturday and let you know.

I believe the cross on the wheel is nice, will look.

The rearview mirror seems to have some tarnishing on the back side, or possibly just dirt. I'll check it out and let you know.

Sorry I don't have a lot of definitive answers for you, I've only been able to spend a few hours here and there on the car before it gets dark. I'll be over there all day tomorrow, should make some progress... in theory.

    Mike,
I would take the levers from the column, the front speakers are mounted to the bottom of the dashpad.

    Jim's Update

Got some parts pulled, photos taken.

    Core Support:

As you can see in the second photo, it looks like the car was bottomed out at some point, the lower piece of metal was bent and a small tear formed. I think it could be fixed easily. Its solid under the battery, just some surface rust as per usual.

    Inner Fenders:

Nice pieces, just some surface rust in the battery area. I'll throw in the plastic extension pieces and the mounting washers if you need them. I could pull the mounting brackets for you as well if you'd like those.

    Headlight Buckets:

These are nice drivers, not perfect but very nice. I just rubbed them out with a paper towel, bet they'd be great with a bit o polishing.

The skin of the door is very nice, no dents or rust, but I'm having issues with it. The power windows are shot, so I wasn't able to roll the window down. Then for some reason I started tearing apart the door trying to get the glass out. So now its all torn apart, I still can't get the glass out, and I am kind of unsure of what to do. How much of it do you want?

The original speakers are gone for whatever reason :Do No:

I'll work on pulling the steering column levers next chance I get.

AC vents below the dash, there seems to be only one, directly under the steering wheel, it is plastic and in very poor condition.

No trip odometer and no speed alert.

Sorry this is taking me so long, just got my hours bumped up again at work.

    Rolf's Update

    Rear View Mirror:

The mounting bracket and arm are in perfect condition. What I thought was corrosion at first turned out to be just grease, wiped off easily. The housing is in very very nice shape as well. The rubber trim around the edge is very nice, but not perfect. The only bad part is that the mirror glass itself seems to be worn thin in places. You can make out an outline of the backing plate on it, it shows up as very light gray discoloration that doesn't come off with windex. It would be a great piece just like it is, for a perfect show car you'd have to replace the glass. A steal for $10 either way.

As for the cruise control, the system was complete and hooked up. The master came out easily, it looks like its in very good condition, though I cannot guarantee it works because I didn't try it. The cable, unfortunately, does not seem to have the plastic piece you spoke of. It was a metal cable, in a plastic cable housing, with a metal connector at the end. I'll sell you the master for $20, plus anything else you want from the cruise system for free with it.

The cross on the steering wheel is in good shape, but there is a big gouge out of the wood grain sticker.

    Mike,
I'm looking for a few things but would be willing to buy more so parts don't get sent to the scrapper. If its easier you can email me pictures too.

    -Driver's side taillight assembly
    -Rear trunk emblem "Electra 225"
    -Windshield trim
    -Rear window trim
-I need a section of the driver's rear quarter panel, maybe 18 inches from the end to the rear bumper
-A/C Evaporator box (the housing on the engine compartment side)
-Engine Wiring harness (I need it complete from the firewall to each connector)
-Rubber "ends" that sit on the rear bumpers right below the taillights at the rear corners
-Chrome "eyebrow" trim above tailights on fin
-I might also be interested in the A/C lines/hoses and hardware for mounting
-driver's side rear marker lamp assembly with chrome bezel
    -Are the skirts rotted?

    Jim,

I think I have all of your parts ready to go. Passenger side door, two inner fenders, core support, and headlight chrome. I also have the turn signal lever and tilt lever. I haven't been able to get the shift lever off the column yet. I've pulled the wheel and locking plate, but I can't seem to figure out how the next section comes off, I've taken out all the screws but it still won't budge :Do No:.

Anyway, I need to get these parts out of here. Next time I am at the car I will give the shift lever another try, if I can get it out I'll ship it separately.

So, the door is really bloody heavy. 80 pounds as it sits right now which is the shell with hinges and handle. I can remove the hinges if you don't want those, and maybe save 10 pounds, but it is still too heavy to ship all in one box, Greyhound has a per package maximum of 100 lbs. So, two boxes.

    Box 1:
Left inner fender: $20, 15 lbs
Right inner fender: $20, 15 lbs
    Core support: $50, 30 lbs
    Headlight buckets: $20, 2 lbs
    Column Levers: $5, 1 lbs
    Total weight: 70 with packaging.
    Length: 72 inches

    Box 2:
    Door: $50, 80 lbs
    Total weight: 90 with packaging
    Length: 60 inches

Using that data, on the Greyhound Package Express site, I came up with $187.40 to get from SLC to Denver, with a declared package value of $200. If for some reason the price is radically different than this quote I'll let you know, but this should be pretty accurate. So...

    Parts: $165
    Shipping: $187
    Total: $352

    Seem legit?

-Driver's side taillight assembly- seems nice, I'll pull it.
-Rear trunk emblem "Electra 225"- seems nice, I'll pull it
-Windshield trim- I am notorious for breaking these things, if I can pull it without destroying it, you can buy it :)
-Rear window trim- same, if I don't break it
-I need a section of the driver's rear quarter panel, maybe 18 inches from the end to the rear bumper- could you draw me a diagram of exactly where you want? How rusty is too rusty? I'd want $50 for it, cutting really agitates the neighbors.
-A/C Evaporator box- What do you mean, exactly? Just the whole climate control box thing off the firewall, where the AC stuff plumbs in?
-Engine Wiring harness- will do, $20
-Rubber "ends" that sit on the rear bumpers right below the taillights at the rear corners. They are pretty dry rotted... doubt they would come off in one piece, you probably don't want them.
-Chrome "eyebrow" trim above tailights on fin- seems nice, I'll pull it.
-I might also be interested in the A/C lines/hoses and hardware for mounting Let me know. It all looks like its in good shape. Not been converted to R134. The system held very good pressure until some irresponsible person vented it illegally into the atmosphere...
-driver's side rear marker lamp assembly with chrome bezel- there's rust in the area, I'll let you know how it looks when its out. $10 probably.
-Are the skirts rotted? Surface rust in the usual places, I'll pull them and investigate.
