Air shifter question

So I have a Hurst quarter stick reverse pattern, front exit cable. It's a 2 hand to get to reverse, park. Has my line lock button in the handle. From what I see to get the linkage to shift it into 3rd,you have to grind the detent. I'm not liking that. I don't mind pulling to shift, except when the air or track is really good and I wheelie high and far out. When I'm landing is when I need to pull 2nd but the momentum is pushing me forward.

With the ppp being designed with the air shifter from the beginning not and added onto thing, mods aren't needed. I plan to use the crt button for the same thing.......1 ofvthe button is pushed on, push off.......the other is momentary.

And from what I understand if not using the air for some reason it doesn't effect the shifter operation or feel......

I'm excited to get mine to come in......but they are slightly behind so good thing I ordered early.

I can give some feed back when I get it but there are all kinds of short videos on you tube you can see the operation.

I.plan to trigger my solenoid off the shift light wire on the new grid ignition. So set the rpm as I would to turn the shift light on but it will turn the air solenoid on.

My last trans was forward pattern column shift, so I get what your saying on the 1-2 shift timing and car coming down and maybe needing the drivers attention to drive.......makes it easy to miss the shift

Its the B&M pro stick. Have the complete assembly in the box. May or may not have used the dembare shift controller in the Skyhawk. Its been a yr so I do not fully remember. YOu can see the set up work in this vid while I was running the Regal

Looks like it works good. Is that a air or electric solenoid? What are you triggering it to shift? Rpm switch?

It did work good most of the time but would just simply miss a shift when the ratchet arm failed to grab that post sticking out. You can see my hand close by ready to pull the shifter back just incase. Its all electric and was being controlled by that little black box mounted where the glove box would go. It can also be triggered by a shift light on the tach. Was using the controller because it has a programable delay between shifts. At that time the car was running a 500 gear and it was wanting to shift quicker than the Shiftnoid could reset. Its all packed in a box waiting to go to a new owner.

It doesnt look you were going much over 5k on the shifts and she didn't stay in 2nd long.......looks like a 7ish second 1/8 mile pass.

I wish I would had set a camera up inside mine, would be funny to see myself on the column shift during the mid 6 second 1/8 mile trips

Maybe I need more tire speed in the burn out????

I start in 1st and find 2nd as soon as I get the tires rolling......sit about 5k and hold, a few seconds later the tires start to grab and draw the rom down to low 4s and I slide out and lift just b4 I think its going hook

With a T400. I was told to start your burnout in 2nd. I believe Carl Rossler actually includes this in his paperwork with a build.

As soon as I start to spin the tires I grab3rd and turn off the line lock and spin the tires out of the water.

I read something about the sprag could take damage but never had it. My car always wanted to start to dribble the tires the few time I tried a 2nd start.....maybe I was too soft on the throttle......

I've got a thousand passes on my trans starting in 1st. I think what would hurt the sprag is shifting 1-2 on the way out of the water when it is trying to grab.
I have auto valve body so no way to start in 2nd......

I was running a lightly warmed up 455 with stock heads and springs. id start to float the valves much over 5000 rpm. It was a consistent 7.50 car in the 1/8th. Way to much gear to run the 1/4. Heres a vid with the next build. Bigger cam, roller lifters and rockers and 13:1 compression. This build had a Cheetah shifter. Later added a air shifter to it. dropped the rear down to 4:10. which gave me the extra leg to go 1/4 mile (10.25) Ran a 6.40 average in the 1/8th

Good thing my car is no where near rear to go.

I ordered everything directly through them minus the bottle......they are out. Ill get a big one that mounts to the cage behind my seat
