I'm not sure...I was trying to get some more itme off work (I have lots of OT banked) but we're just so busy and not many extra guys around. Original plan was world of wheels Feb 17, but that is less than 4 weeks away and so much left to do, including top install, front seat re-cover, firing the engine etc...so doubt I'm gonna make it but we'll see how it goes... I'm pretty happy with how it looks. Hood will be here this week and that should set it off... later Tim
This is really looking fantastic Tim. If you do make it for World of Wheels try to let me know and i'll be there. Thanks. Tom
For sure Tom. You have an open invite to come here any time you want as well. I've been debating skipping the top and just putting the boot on, but that would cost points for sure....(save some time though, couple days for sure, still have to check top with power once electrical is in and then decide to go with what I have or use replacement side rails)... later Tim
Tim; Good luck down the homestretch. You already have the interior complete, correct? I am still up in the air whether I am going to do the exterior painting first, or the interior. It sure would be nice to see the body nice and shiny like yours. I am going to have to barricade around it to keep my kids from leaning their bikes on it. Talk to you soon. Len :3gears:
Hi Len, not sure where you car is exactly, but it would probably be wise to build the interior first, test fit trim, etc before the paint goes on because once the car is painted, you don't want to be drilling holes etc...its bad enough simply putting it back on. Of course, a burned and rusted project car is not very wise, is it?? So maybe you better not listen to me... My interior is done other than front seat needing recovering (needs foamwork otherwise I'd do it myself) and top needs to be installed. Other than that its all there and ready to go. Later Tim
Almost there I agreed with Harry, on the color, it's an eye catcher, weather your're parked or cruising down the street. I like it. I have been re-doing my 69 GS and love the Q code paint look, that the vinyl roof is not going back on few years, :TU: alot of hours went into the welds on the roof, to cover them up.
I love all the paint flying around, whats goin on this year??? At the risk of boring you guys, here is a another pic. This is a milestone for me as I was very worried about the windshield header vinyl. I know the factory folded it over in the corner but I didn't like that. I managed to glue down most it (left about 4" each outboard side) and got it centered, let that dry, then played around and finally carefully glued the outboard edges and worked them so the fold ended up under the latch receptacle. No wrinkles, no folds, no bubbles or bumps. Cool. Now I can relax.... Thats the progress for today, plus started taking apart the siderails that showed up, planning the wiring runs a bit more, some polishing, etc. next big itme will be the hood, I uess I should call em... later Tim
Oh yeah, check this out...not sure if it will show up in such a small picture...10 foot ceilings...think thats authentic paint??? ou: later Tim
