about 2 1/2 weeks till race time and my engine is still in pieces, anybody else running out of time? how bout you tom? there are 2 maxie's here in big red country that are still not running.
Short on time AND money I'm just about 100% burnt-out on this project, but still getting a little bit done every night.
Engine is "supposed" to be done tomorrow. Of course I won't be able to go get it til next Monday. Trans is at the shop and will be done this week. Gonna be tight.....
Just painted my original motor and will tuck it away and also just painted my new motor and soon to the dyno it will go. If it is in one piece after the dyno, then stuff it in and I am ahead of schedule!! :TU: :3gears: Mr Maxie, I sent you the distributor yesterday. Later Jim
Got back from the dyno yesterday and the motor is still in one piece, and it is possible to make the advertised horsepower of that motor size. It is in the car now and will be running this afternoon and then off to Ohio I go!! :3gears: Jim
Engine is on the stand, tranny is waiting for a part, tires arrived today, fuel pump/pump wiring harness/driveshaft loop/Pertronix/exhaust on order, and I'm working out of town. This isn't going to be pretty. I see a lot of work getting done the week leading up to Martin. (Glad I scheduled vacation that week.) Todd
yeah, didn't he say he was going to run an electric fuel pump. Todd, good luck as it sounds like you have your work cut out for you.
It's not in yet, but am hoping for Martin. I will try to go to Kil Kare as a spectator, although I should stay home and work on the car. I'm looking forward to getting your autograph soon (TV star).............
 yep, was probably me. How many rough powder blue 69 W-31s can there be  o No: I was either driving to the cruise in Downers Grove on friday night (yes, though the rain). Or over to my brother and sister-in-laws Monday.
Different event but I know the feeling - Blew both head gaskets the Atlanta NSCA event so the motor's been out for a little "freshen up". I have to be back together for next weekend for a BTE/Citgo bracket meet at Milan. The routine is (a) get out to the barn about 9 pm (b) get to bed about 1 am (c) get up at 4:30 am to go to work. Not sure how much longer I can keep this up... The heads are back on so its ready to paint and set back in the chassis. The hood is in the paint shop so once it gets back I should be good to go! :TU: K PS - 200th post, by the way :beer
No, Dave didn't forget anything.......... You preregistered it as a Pure Stocker/Factory Stocker for Martin from the list I just saw on Y1. Did they screw up, or would you like to change that? :bglasses:
Keith: Having met you (and your Dad), I think you'll keep it up as long as you need to. Once it's in your blood..........Was just thinking the other night at T n T at Milan, this is my 40th anniversary of racing at Milan, and next year will be my 50th anniversary since I first started driving and had my first drag race (a 56 Ford wagon vs a 37 flathead coupe at a drive-in in Ky. Concrete gets harder, alarms get louder, wait until you can't see anything without your bifocals and your hands just don't work anymore! I got to the point that I spent half the time getting the car as high as I could to work underneath, then threw every damn tool I owned under there just in case I may need it. Now easier to trailer it down to Casey's house, and watch him fix it on his hoist.
Hey Dave, does Casey's neighborhood have any real estate for sale? I'm gettin' too old to work on a concrete floor myself.
