    Chris,

Get rid of that filter in the carb!!!! Some people say its wrong, but I have my filter before the fuel pump. I managed to get a larger JAZ filter with an aluminium case and a sintered bronze element in it. Major league restriction in the carb!!!!! Also, you may not have to remove the tank, just backblow the line. That will take care of the sock for you, but you had better get the good filter in place before you get it running again!!:spank:

I fought an intermittent fuel problem for months until I found that the sock was folded over the send unit's inlet. If you're not careful when installing the send unit, it's easy to fold the sock and trap it so it can't straighten. In my case, this also caused the float to sometimes hang up on the sock at 1/4 tank. Anyway, when folded over like this, all the fuel is sucked through an area of the sock about the size of a dime -- an area which quickly becomes clogged with sediment, restricting flow even further.

On the other hand, every fuel delivery problem I've ever had resulted in the car falling flat on its face at high RPM -- nothing I would describe as a hesitation. It either has fuel or it doesn't.

Agreed on that. It either has fuel or it doesn't. If there's fuel in the float bowl that wouldn't be the cause of the hesitation.

Back when we were using these cars as driver/winter beater cars (yes, we did that), we used to blow out the fuel lines from the front and have someone listen for the bubbles in the tank. If it blew out the sock, so what? Put in an inline like mentioned here, pull the one in the fuel inlet at the carb and go for it.

    Chris,

Glad that you brought this up.

A few minutes ago ,before I even had the chance to bring it up,my wife slammed two torpedoes into those plans in the form of a little league baseball game ,and the killer ,my daughters dance recital. The LL game could have gone on the chopping block ,but I won't miss the recital.

It's like she was reading my mind on the timing of it!:spank:

Probably my ignorance for not knowing sooner ,which sometimes is bliss.

I'm going to have to tread lightly on this one,so I'll have to pass on the T N T.

I guess that I should have known that it was coming as a week ago,she informed me that my nieces graduation from high school was the 21st of June (Martin Race). Well I'll tell you that right after I snuck over to her purse and pulled one of my nads out,I laid down the law on that one. Then I waited for her to fall asleep ,and I put it back!

    Guess I showed her.

The forecast is calling for 20% rain, will have to wait and see if it changes. My son is ready to go,I'm ready to go, but once again the gremlins got to me.

The throw out bearing started to make some noise, so I'll have to get it replaced. Bad timing as I torn the tendon for my rotator cup, and I'm not able to do much. Hate taking the car to a shop for something like this, but have no other choice. Hopefully they will have IT ready to go.

What is that saying, "if it wasn't for bad luck, I won't have any luck."

Will keep you posted on what happens. Bob

PS My son didn't seem to depressed when I told him that he might have to drive at Martin. You got to love those kids.

Just got off of the phone with the shop thats replacing the throw out bearing, and they don't think it will be ready till next week. So it appears that I'm a no show, again, for this weekend.
As I said before, if it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck. Seems this year is starting out like last year, plan a day at the strip and something breaks. Only difference is last year I did make it to the strip before it broke.
If anyone has another date in mind, let me know. Bob

    Hey Guyszzz,

I recommend that more people plan a pre-season T&T like we do.

It serves as a kick in the a-- ,which might ensure that we are at least ready by Martin.: laugh:  :beers2:

It's like your wife telling you to be ready to go for her cousins wedding at 2:00 pm when in reality, you don't have to leave till 4:00 . Kind of a buffer ,and if your like me you'd be saying "Wedding ?" .

All kidding aside, if you come up with another date,I'll try to make it .:3gears:

If all else fails, lets make sure we make the T&T on June 20th. It's just a little farther away.
