I'm selling a custom made set of Arias forged 2618 pistons. They are .038, (+4.5cc total final dome volume), partial dome, 518 grams, 1.325 compression height, .990 pin, gas ports. These pistons work well with Stage-1 or early Stage-2 chambers. Some dome material may be machined to lower compression. Custom made Crower 4340 steel billet connecting rods. 7.250 length center-to-center, .990 pin bore, 2.374 big end, 557gms rotating weight, 235gms reciprocating weight, 792gms total weight. This long rod-piston combination worked extremely well. Pistons and rods have been used for about 500 miles. This combo of rods & pistons sell for over $2600.00 when new. I'm asking $1000.00.

Hi Rick, they were in my 464 3770-lb. Skylark, (street/strip non-tubbed set-up) ran 10.50s in drive, at the GS Nationals. Let me know if there are any other questions.
    Thanks, Larry

Yes, the Pistons & Rods are still for sale. Sorry I have been unavailable until now. I have to make a correction which I just noticed. The final dome volume is +4.5cc, NOT -4.5cc as in the ad. The actual dome itself is +12cc and the two valve reliefs equal -7.5cc, so final dome volume is +4.5cc. The heads I had been using up until now are the early T/A Stage 2 tall port big chamber prototype street heads, which I may be selling soon also. They where originally 74cc untill I milled them resulting in a final 62cc chamber size. I was using the .040 copper head gaskets, O-ring decks, with a .030 deck height. I wanted to have the deck height set at .010 with total quench of .050 but the machine shop in error set the deck height at .030 and it was too close to the GS Nationals to go back. I believe the STATIC compression was calculated at 13.72 to 1. I originally used this piston-rod setup with 1970 Stage 1 Iron heads with a tad-bit higher STATIC compression. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank You, Larry Berte

What Crank was used with this Combo? stroke or offset?

I used the stock stroke (3.90), cast crankshaft with no offset. Thanks, Larry.

Probably not interested at the moment but out of curiosity, how much is the crank turned? Seems like this is a good way to salvage a crank that is beyond the limits of Buick bearing availability.

Greg, I'm glad you brought this to my attention in case anyone else is wondering. Just to clear any confusion up, NO special crankshaft is needed nor is it recommended for this piston/rod package. In the case of the crankshaft I used with this set-up the connecting rod journals are not turned at all, still stock 2.250. The mains are .020 (3.230), but that has no effect on this combo. Infact all the journals on the crank are in great shape, and is ready to be installed. It is not a stroker modified crankshaft, its still 3.90 stroke. This rod-piston set up is designed to place the top of the Arias piston at the same height as the stock piston when using the original stock (6.60) rod length, by moving the wrist pin location up in the piston-(by-design). The crankshaft itself will work perfectly in any (stock-stroke) engine package, from bone-stock to the 700hp set-up I was using it in. The ojective of the long rod design is to afford the piston a longer dwell time at top-dead-center as well as reducing the piston to cylinder wall load, resulting in less fricton reducing piston skirt/cylinder wall wear, and a lighter piston/rod weight . You will find many conflicting theories on this subject though. In closing, these Arias pistons and Crower connecting rods will install in any stock crankshaft Buick 455 shortblock with NO modifications necessary. Thanks for the inquiry and letting me clear this up. Larry
