To answer a previously posted question.... This thread doesn't have anything to do with Buicks directly, but it's nice to talk about something off topic other than high gas prices. Especially when it's good news (another mass shooting avoided).

And in many parts of our country today, having a gun in your GS might be the only reason you get to keep it.. Carjackings have just gone crazy in the T/C area. Most of them at gunpoint... Too many 14 year olds running around with guns.. that's the gun control that needs to be focused on.. not legal gun owners.. Law enforcement needs to step it up big time, get these gang kids under control, and the courts need to start handing out real punishment for gun crimes.. even for those under the age of 18. Lax enforcement and prosecution are a straight line to higher gun crime statistics.

If that enforcement results in the offender being incarcerated for a period of time, then they will not be on the streets to do another crime. It's pretty simple. But that should be the last resort, we should be spending money on prevention and education, to keep the kids out of gangs, to stop this stuff before it gets started.. But we also need to get serious with penalties... get caught with a gun on your person or in the passenger compartment of your car, without a carry permit for that weapon, automatic gross misdemeanor penalties apply... Felony level charges for repeat offenders.. We do that for alcohol in this state, but not for guns? that's nuts.

Until that happens and the politicians get serious about enforcement of the current laws, then I ask, exactly what is the point of new laws? What, we are going to enforce those laws we find politically correct now? That's not how this country is suppose to work. Gun control is just another wedge issue, designed to get us to vote a certain way.

Kids and young adults who think that a gun in their pocket is cool, and using it is the way to settle disputes is the issue here.

Fix that problem, and your going a long way down the road to lowering the gun related homicides in this country. The True mass shootings of innocent victims, not related in any way to the shooter, are actually pretty rare, compared to the gang violence in many of our big cities.

But nobody wants to take responsibility for a generation of children who have placed no value on human life.

Are you referring to having been in the army? Cause they require 6 weeks of basic training and you are locked in there 24 hours a day and will be kicked the hell out of you don't do what you are told.

Acknowledged that he was in the air force, not army. However if I had just stated armed service that would have been more all inclusive.

My guns are for hunting. In addition, my wife and I each have one for self defense. The self defense weapons have yet to be used, but like that spare tire in the trunk, it will be nice having it if I need it.

Im saying that people on the terrorist watch list should be allowed to purchase guns.

Why? Because none of those people havecbeen charged with a crime. How does one get on that list? A judge? Nope...some mid level FBI beaurocrat suspects you might be a suspected terrorist. How do you get off the list? Who knows....we have something called due process in this country. If they were terrorists, why not just arrest them? Lol

Same for red flag laws, police can go take your property away with no court order just based on an anonymous tip. An informant who may have a grudge against you. Then you have to petition a judge and prove your innocence. Not how it works and completely unconstitutional

If your conspiracy minded, you can find a one it every action taken by government agencies.

Does not make it true, and all the videos and "facts" in the world prove nothing.

Well doing nothing isn't working. How about that kid whose dad let him have a gun, and he used to to shoot up Uvalde. Cops were called to their place reportedly for domestic issues. If the cops came out a second time and demanded all of his weapons, the 2nd amendment crowd would go nuts.
So instead, some dumbass goes shooting.
Losing the right to own guns should have a better system in place.

    Topcat Got TORQUE?

My friend and next door neighbor of 30 years put 25 years in as a Indiana State trooper....then got elected to 8 years(2 terms...most he could serve)as our county Sheriff and is now a Federal building guard.
He has told me from the beginning...."Bill,carry all the time....it may not be you or your family that you protect...it may be other members of the public".....just like this instance.
I had my first gun at 8...a single shot .410....at 13 i spent two summers as a rifle range instructor at a Boy Scout camp.....from 16 to 18 i shot on a DeMolay small bore rifle team.....and i have been NRA forever.
I would have done just what this hero did......you have no idea how many lives he saved by being there and being armed.

But i think open carry is stupid.....

    Peace WilBill

p.s.....glad we can have a reasonable discussion on the subject :)

I did a few years (21) in the Air Force. Yes, basic training used to weed out and kick out folks who didn't follow orders or were "non-hackers". Today is different. Today the recruit has the opportunity to talk about how the Instructor makes him feel and the Instructor has to answer the grievance before the whole Flight of recruits. Everyone passes unless they say they are suicidal or a medical conciliation comes up.
To operate a weapon system or to be able to carry one in the Armed Force's requires training to be accomplished and a piece of paper be signed stating you have not been convicted of domestic violence. No mental health check, even upon recruitment. The weapons I was issued were far more destructive than anything in civilian hands.

I'm still having trouble finding a lack of coverage on this event. Every stupid libtard site I regularly visit has covered the mall shooting and the role of the armed good samaritan. o_O

Americans are not allowed to have fully automatic machine guns. They are arms, and a person could sure as heck defend his/her house with one. Why can't Americans bear such arms? Well, because most Americans seem to accept that their should be limits on that right.

Americans are not allowed to carry grenade launchers. They are arms, and a person could sure as heck defend his/her house with one. Why can't Americans bear such arms? Well, because most Americans seem to accept that their should be limits on that right.

Americans were not allowed to have AR-style weapons in the 40's, because they had not been invented yet. Were Americans not able to defend themselves back them? Were their 2nd Amednment right being trampled or let unfulfilled by not having AR-type weapons? Seems like everyone felt they had those rights even before ARs came on the market, if memory serves me correctly.

So if we can accept limits, and if ARs were not necessary to fulfill 2nd Amendment rights, why can't we stand book, look at the massacres that keep occurring, and maybe move the limits to a more logical place?

I Agree! Let’s move that limit! Someday we CAN have full auto, grenade launchers, cannon, rocket launchers and the like. Glad we found some common ground!!
