I hate to say this, but the U.K. is 10 times more communist than Russia is now. I read about some of the assinine laws your counsils and lawmakers come up with to control you, monitor you, and fine you. I feel bad for UK citizens. Not much freedom there anymore.

This whole NANNY STATE we have over here is really getting me down. I cant defend myself, family or property without ending up in jail. Villians have all the right the victims have none. We are costantly bombarded with goverment commercials on the dangers of everything on every commercial brake. Dont do drugs, wear a condom, give up smoking, no more than 10 units of alcohol a week and speeding kills. They have all been on in the last 40 minutes!!!
What if... I really fancy a leg over and going bare back with a complete stranger, then having a skin full of whiskey. The speeding down the shops pissed to buy some fags!! There ive broken all the PC commercials in one go! British by nature a rubbish complainers, thus we've been railroaded to where we are now! I mean the weather is crap 11 months of the year!! I gotta do something fun! Oh and the want me to hand in my Buick because its not GREEN! as you can clearly see from my avatar it is

all but 1 of my guns have been handme downs from my dad grandfather and fatherinlaw I'll be damned if I'm not allowed to keep them and hand them down to my kids when they are older. btw both my boys 4 and 6 know how to properly handle and shoot their rifles (w/ my supervision of course) I wouldn't want them to not know how to safely handle a weapon. They are not toys like the video games show they are !

Yes he did at the time when there was no standing army. You can try to over through the government, but now the president has an army, navy and air force at his becken call. Jefferson might think differently these days.

Went with some buddies at lunch to the local gun shop. After everything that has come about lately, the place was PACKED.

Bought 500 rounds for my .22

Going tomorrow to pick up a .380
Hopefully they will have a supply of ammo for it too.

While we were there a guy bought an AR15. REALLY nice piece.

I am not a dooms day type person at all. Just would like to purchase another gun while they are still somewhat reasonably priced. I also have two young boys that will learn to shoot when they get older..

The pot with the frog in it is getting hotter...do a search for HR 45, the Blair Holt firearm licensing and record of sale act of 2009. This legislation is named after a young man in Chicago that stepped in front of a bullet to save another kid when some lunatic stepped onto a bus and started shooting.
Now the gun lobby and sympathetic legislators are using his heroism to destroy the rights guaranteed by the 2nd amendment to the constitution. If this bill becomes law, all lawful gun owners must be licensed, fingerprinted, provide drivers license and social security numbers, and a verifiable home address to the federal government. Any gun transfer must be done via NICS, with a $25 fee. If you move, you must notify the federal government within 60 days, again at a cost of $25. Any home with children must have all firearms unloaded and securely locked where no child can get access. If one of your guns is lost or stolen you have 72 hours to notify the feds and local law enforcement. Failure to follow these statutes (and all the others listed) will result in unspecified fines, and between 2 and 10 years in prison. There is literally a $25 fee for any change made to your status, whether it is buying, selling, moving, reporting a theft, or any other change regarding your firearms.
Any conviction involving these statutes also results in forfeiture of your right to possess or own any firearm for life. Take the time to look through the text of the bill (it is only a few pages), and send an email to your congressman letting him or her know how you feel about it. If we hold their feet to the fire, they have to listen sooner or later. It only takes a few minutes, and if you keep the message polite and to the point, you can make a difference. I contacted my Congresswoman about it earlier today.

By the way, in my opinion, gun control is the ability to hit your target!

If you want to get in the business of letting others decide what you "need" I think you are in big trouble; starting with your car hobby and if the enviro-police get to inspect your home (and how many sqft do you "need?") God help you (although many would say you don't "need" Him either.) That is a very slippery slope.

I also think that gun ownership is what a "well regulated militia" is about, meaning average citizens competent with the operation of firearms. The assertion that we cannot fight a reasonable defense against a tyrranical government with our pea-shooters is not cosidering that the National Guard, not to mention most of the military is our brothers and sisters and will likely be sharing their weapons along with task-training the competent to use the "good stuff." But really, people need to get the nerve to take back their own neighborhoods before having the fortitude to take on the government. We, as a whole, are lemmings waiting for the next hand-out. Otherwise both presidential candidates and most of the Congress would have been tarred and feathered instead of making it to the election polls. It has been hold-your-nose-and-vote for a very, very long time. We have become what our forefathers feared we would become.

Lastly, the Mexican weapos-supply assertion is a hollow justification; I suppose the hand-grenades referred to were also supplied from the USA by all us "paranoid" folks that hoard them using the gun-show loop-holes? Laughable if it weren't so spooky. I think the anti-gunners are a lot more paranoid and control-freaks than the opposite.

Diego, since that Aus statisitc has been bandied around so much over the years, where is the gun-control advicates' evidence showing a viable statistical correlation as an alternative to what you are apparently suggesting is anecdotal?
