So let me get this right.Your wife is complaining that she can't get enough "seat time"........but her car runs in the 11's.I can't even begin to image how she'll do next year:Dou:

I think it would have been a lot cheeper for Terry to take me out to the track and let me practice more! Terry always has a good excuse for his purchases. Actually, I did approve of this one because it's supposed to be MINE.

    Two good questions.....

What is the actual CFM's of the 3 leakers vs the 850cfm 4296 double pumper,

and, is the cam on the L71 less radical than the L88 cam??

Jet changes might be a b***h with 3 carbs though. :af:

I thought the tri-power was rated at 1350 cfm?? The L-71 cam is the same basic cam as the LS6..520 lift. The L88 is .560 intake and .580 exh.Lets not forget the L89 has closed chambered heads, while the later L88's used the 074 open chamber heads, the 074's are said to flow 40% better in stock trim.Exh manifolds are the same.I have my doubts that a Pure Stock L89 will run as fast as an L88.Now a F.A.S.T all out L89 might be a different story......... Terry.. are you listening????

Let me see, an L89 gets more CFM, but no cold air induction and no 074 heads.
An L88 gets less CFM, but has cold air induction and 074 heads.

Either way, terry can't drive it, it's got one of those stick shift thingies in it.

Awesome car Terry, LEAVE THAT FOUR SPEED IN IT!

A TH400 has three clutches, C6 has three and Torque Flight two.....

New mantra....Real Race Car's have One Clutch.

    Or no Torque converter....whichever.

Terry, I am unable to open or see your pics! (or Daves tractor either) Repost another way?

No Steve that is Julies car and the 4-speed will be out laying in the shop floor!
I have had plenty of 4-speed race cars I will bang gears with anyone, I can show you at VMP if you like just give me the keys.
I had a 4-speed in the camaro when I first got it done but could not be consistent. Why do you think DD switch to an auto?

The NHRA believes an L71/L89 would trump an L88...the original factor of the L71/L89 was 500hp (last I knew it was down to 495hp), while the L88 was only 476...in fact, the '67 L71/L89 is *the only* Chevrolet that has ever been legal in the race Hemi playground that is SS/A...but what do I know, I'm just some tired old Hillbilly...!

Terry can jump in when he sees your post, but it's a '69.

'68 had push buttons for the door handles and didn't get the chrome inserts in the side gills.

    Terry,

Is the car an L89? or the steel head? if so it would have come with the 842 castings in 69, with the smaller intake valves and closed chamber heads. only the 69 L88 and 71 LS6 came with the openchamber 074 castings and the 2.19/1.88 valves
