    I already posted the production totals for the three Electra models for 1974.

    Here's the option list, with prices, for the 1974 model year Buicks:

    Sorry about the spotty replies, still busy with harvest for another week or two, that is a long list of options! It is a limited model, where would I look for the id tag with the options listed?

    On the fire wall, not sure about '74, but it could be on top of the fire wall: passenger side where the wiper is resting.

    Late to the party. Friday I was driving my full size prize down the highway for an out of town show. I have Riviera's , Wildcats, and one 73 225 (for parts) Bodys and int are shot but most of the trim is nice.

    Also late - '73 LeSabre here. Not as classy as your Electra, but we get 16MPG highway and run 13's in the quarter mile on street tires through full quiet exhaust. And it gets driven a lot, including on family trips. Plenty of big car love here!

    Bob, that's one of the reasons I was looking for an Electra, I wanted a 4 door too. Added another member to the family last winter and we didn't all fit in the El Camino anymore, so we needed a bigger unit hahaha.

    Did you find the Body Number Plate on the car?

    Thanks for all the warm welcomes and all your help with this newbie! The plot sort of thickens though, because I have verified that it does have all these options listed on the original sales receipt. Sorry the image might be upside down

    How do you get the image to show like that instead of just an attachment? Maybe it's been explained a hundred times before...

    First you upload the file from your computer by clicking the Upload a File button (blue arrow)
    After that you click the Full Image button (green arrow)
    If you don't do that, the image will show under the post as a clickable thumbnail (like the Flintstone mobile under this post)

    But it's even better to host your own photos on a remote hosting site and post them using the [ img] code.

    "MAX TAC" in that list is of course the Max Trac wheel spin control, a $89 option (see my list in post #21)
    Did your car come with that?

    I think it's time to show us a few photos of the car [IMG]

    It's the tag YOU were talking about:

    1974 Electra.jpg

    There's only one option on your Body Number Plate (BNP):

    AM6 = Seat assembly, 60-40 front split w/center armrest

    About the rest of your BNP:

    ST74 4CX39FL1 151996 BDY

    ST74 = Model year 1974

    4 = Buick

    CX = Electra Limited

    39 = 4-door hardtop

    FL1 = Built in Flint, MI

    151996 BDY = Fisher body number, no relation to the VIN

    TR 641 = Blue interior

    PNT 26 = Mediterranean Blue paint

    A = Black vinyl top

    2E = Built in the 5th week of February 1974
    (2 = 2nd month, A = 1st week and so on)

    I believe so, It has the switch for it on the dash, but it also has an HEI distributor, which I was told didn't come with the max track, but I believe it has the high output engine because it has the W in the vin instead of the V, which came with the HEI distributor, so I don't know what to believe hahaha, I'll get some decent pictures soon, but it isn't anything special to look at, it was sitting in a pole shed for 25 years before I rescued it from almost certain derby death. Interior is very nice, but the paint leaves something to be desired.

    All the Max-Trac system did was cutting off the power to the ignition when there was wheelspin detected, so it doesn't matter if it was an old points system or an HEI.
    I've seen model year 1974 Rivieras (those came standard with the HEI) with the factory Max-Trac system option.

    This is what the 1971 Buick Chassis Service Manual says about Max-Trac:

    Welcome from your resident Wildcat owner in Australia .... not many of us down here. TBH while I love damn near all the 65-75 Buicks featured on this great board, but I'm mostly here for the big-car info and love!

    QUESTION: what was the essential difference between the Electra Limited and the two lower-spec versions? Just more loaded with options?
