I was interested in the orginal until I decided to put a 2004r in my car. Now that I have that installed I would buy one with the
    D inside the O and 3 2 1.

I have a few of the overdrive lenses and D 3 2 1 now available ( see new pics ) these are based on the 67 3 spd spacing with the extra letter added. Tell me what you guys think of them and the price of these are $25 without the black slider and $35 with, this includes the ride to your door. I didn't get too many made up because I wasn't sure of the interest so the cost is slightly higher.

Trying to decide it I want the D plate or the D in the O plate. Is the black plastic have the texture like on the one you have in the pictures earlier or is it smooth?

Ed, slider is smooth on 1 side and textured on the other side so you have your choice. I like the textured side because it sort of matches the grain finish on the top and the sides of my console. My paypal account has changed since I started this thread. PM me when you decide. Thanks

Sean, from what I can see the lens is black with painted white letters that illuminate at night. Are the letters etched from the backside? I could really use an original one for a sample to make this happen. Thanks for posting the pics!

I scratched on the lettering last night on the lense and it fell through the lense, so is it filled in with something that will light up?

Guys.. allow me kinda jump in here. The 68/69 shift pattern plate is unusual. The letters are CUT/etched INTO the plate, Then, somehow filled in with an illumination phosphorus type product.... the challenge will be HOW to get the middle of the 'D', 'P' and the 'R' to become black to match the background...?

I have acquired two 68/69 parts consoles I am considering restoring (maybe?!) but would love to hear options like perhaps do NOT etch the letters all the way thru to face of the acrylic, leaving a spot to paint black in the middle of those letters??

hmmm I dunno. The 68/69 shift plates on the consoles I just spent too much money on, all are missing most of those letters so I dont really know HOW it was originally designed...

I could send you one of mine if you want to mess around with it???

Jim, I have the shifter plate but it goes with the rest of the console that I'm working on. This is the one piece of the whole console that I think is the hardest to find, you can find the tach/trishield emblem housing easy enough and the front part of the console comes up from time to time as well as the rear compartment lid. But the shifter plate rarely comes up on it's own, I'm always looking for them. The tach plate is still in the works, just waiting for the call.
As for the 68/69 lens I haven't had the chance to see one up close and out of the console, so I might take Wheelz up on his offer if I can't find one closer to home.

Wheelz, whats the average cost for a tach repair/cleaning from those guys? I go to a guy thats 5 minutes from my home and he does repairs to both tachs and clocks but he doesn't refinish the buick face plate or the rpm number plate.Charges $75-100 depending on condition.

I'd say $95-135 depending on condition. AND they touch up the backing plate, brighten the orange/red limitation markings and needle...
IIRC, The last one I sent them was about $141 and required some fine detailing...& took about 4weeks. Very Pleased.

I am sure there are less expensive guage repair services out there but from my experiences, this place has never failed to match my expectations. I'm just sayin'....
