I guess specifically 1970 brackets but let's do 71 and 72 as well.

I was under the impression they were painted black like the upper AC bracket. The brackets on my GSX look painted to me and I don't believe anyone has messed with them.

Let's see some original, factory finish brackets. And go....lol

1970 Stage 1 automatic with 23K original miles. Sold for $90K at Mecum in 2018. Owner was Henry Snow from NH.

Motorcade Magazine from 1970 with a GSX on the cover. Zoom in to see the contrast of the brackets with the black reservoir.

Originals, not painted. btw, '72s are not the same, entirely different bracket setup.

So, if this is correct would you
    1. glass bead and have plated
    2. glass bead and clear
    3. glass bead and paint
    4. cover with grease and call it good?

They were gray phosphate when new.

However you achieve that look is entirely up to you. :D

Fantastic idea! Sell that Vette and do another Buick!

Assuming Gray Phosphate would be correct for the 69 stepchildren as well since we were the test bed for the 70-72 cars?

I know for a fact that '67 were also the same as what I pictured in my post above.

I have a '70 & '72 here somewhere that may help, but the new parts manager really stinks...

Whatever the finish on the aqua mist it’s not a coating, goes down to the bone
