Could use a little "help from above" with new health troubles

Dear Bill and V-8 Buick community,

I wish I could say otherwise, but I remain deeply shaken up by the death of my friend Michael. I am a philosopher at heart and cannot stop attempting to make sense of a world that ultimately doesn't seem to make much sense. There are two sentences that keeps rolling around in my head: "If prayers worked humanity would never had the need to invent science. If science worked the way we really want it do, we would have long since stopped having the need to pray."

Basically that is what happened to Michael. He got strong enough to be able to send emails and his doctor assured him that the situation was under control and he was on the road to a complete recovery. It was at that point that he asked to start the thread asking for prayers from the V-8 Buick community. I even rushed to send him a get well card and a copy of Hemmings Muscle Machines magazine. After that - silence. The next email I finally got was written by his oldest daughter and informed me that things had suddenly taken a very serious turn for the worst. The doctor had clearly not assessed the situation correctly and the science let Michael down. Obviously, the prayers weren't able to turn the tide either.

Obviously I'm really feeling let down - what else can I say.

Ed...I add my prayers to yours ,and I acknowledge the feeling you share by " feeling let down ." These things are a mystery to say the least ,so I won't pull your chain or play with your intelligence. LIFE, is hard enough.
There is a book that I have read and I read it when I was going through my bout with prostate cancer( I lost my Buicks/ and my home and existence) long story...
The book is called " When Bad Things happen to Good People " by Harold S. Kushner. ( R.I.P. ) He was a Rabbi whose son suffered Progeria( the old age disease as a Child ) and His son died as a result. He questioned GOD [ YAHWEH ] and then himself and then wrote this book.
It was an interesting read for Me. I don't know what this book ( and GOD) might say to You, I offer it so that You don't go further down the ' rabbit hole . ' My sincere thoughts are for You, My Brother in Life and in Buicks. Mr.Jay B.Britt, Jr.

 

Ed, it's unfortunate we live in a world that is not perfect, not in science nor prayer.

I can only say I have lost a lot of good friends that died way to early in life.

I pray that you may heal quickly from your sorrow.
