OK, here's a different rant... It's as if traffic in Houston wasn't bad enough as it is... why do we have so many SLOW drivers? I don't know how many times I'm in a 40 zone being blocked by dweebs doing 25 - just in time for the next light to stop us all. I probably sound aggressive, but I have a clean driving record. Actually, if you get a ticket in Houston, it's just a stroke of bad luck.

I don't know how some of you could stand this having 400hp or more. I couldn't use all stomping 136hp in my Camry if I wanted to. I have to head several miles out of town just to let the Centurion run every now and then.

    fast drivers

Only thing I hate more is driving down the interstate already going 15 mph over the speed limit and some bozo gets on my :moonu: flashing his lights for me to move over. If he wants to go that fast and risk getting a ticket, he can go around me in the right like I have to do if I want to break the law.

victor, you are in a metropolitan area. i am suprised more people dont get killed driving too slow. we drove into houston one time while visiting my sister and brother-in-law in lk.charles. same kind of mad dash drivers i've seen in any big city. you ought to drive here in montana . you got old sven and helga driving the clampettmobile down the street really slow so as to not wear out the tires, turn around corners like they are afraid of tipping over, and stopping in the middle of the road to say "howdy" to bubba on the street corner, like there was NOBODY else on the road . and if you try to go around the clampetts 9 times out of 10 there will be some cap wearin' punk wanna-be in a cheap-ass japtrap with a 4' tall wing on the back going 25 mph over the speed limit either coming at you or riding your bumper trying to cut you off :spank:. i have always had this theory that the actual driving part of the driving test should be administered every year and the written part be completely dropped. anybody can memorize and forget :Dou:

    I'm with you!
If going with the flow at 70 mph in a 55 zone isn't good enough, they can kiss my :moonu: .

1/2 the time they fight to get around you, only to take the next exit.

My peeve are the driver's that aren't up to the speed of traffic by the time they get to the end of an entrance ramp. Or, they slow down or even worse, stop as they get to the end and try to merge on to the interstate.
    Let's go here!

Gee woulnd't want to be looking straight into a Buick grille from one of those "japtraps"

70 is plenty for a 55 Both of them hack me off: the ones that act like they own the road AND the ones that seem to have absolutely no purpose for getting anywhere. The only time I ever hit anybody was on a right exit lane that merges with another road. The lanes don't actually merge; you have your own lane on the new road. Everytime I had driven that all drivers understood that. You keep going. I was looking over my left shoulder to make sure no idiot was planning to illegally use that lane. Something didn't feel right that time and I looked in front to find that the lady in front of me couldn't figure out that she had her own lane and decided to stop...... doh! :spank:

I lived in Houston for a couple years...went to Spring Branch High in the 10th grade....anyway..I used to drive from the adics dam area to downtown and it was around 17 miles if I remember right and it took right at 1 1/2 hours to get there in the morning and add about 15 minutes to that getting back home...man I hated it...OL!!..I was riding in my first Buick...1973 Regal 2dr...that was a nice car!....I feel for ya...here in Beckley...I drive about 6 miles...takes maybe 10 minutes...

That time sounds about right. I avoid the Katy Freeway at all costs. In most places in this town you really more or less just "scoot" along with traffic. You don't really drive. They could probably just hook them all to a conveyor rope and it'd be about the same. Besides a lot of people just read the paper, talk on the phone, put on make-up, etc. It's sort of like mass transit, but you get to sit in your own car. We're now at the point where people can watch satellite TV and surf the net in car, too.

I need to figure out how to just make money on the internet, so I could head out for roomier pastures, play with the Buicks and let the cash roll in.

Phil, I think Austin has it worse. Austin has too few freeways for the size it's becomming. I've logged some real special time on I-35 going absolutely nowhere.

Worse than the slow drivers are the morons who can't understand that you should keep right except to pass. All too often some idiot is sitting in the left lane with the cruise control at 60 MPH. This causes people to have to pass on the right and sparks "road rage" because someone thinks that since they're obeying the law they should slow everyone else down. Those morons should realize that's what the police are for. If these people are that adamant about taking the law into their own hands, I should take it into my own hands and unload a full clip from my Glock into the passenger compartment of their car for violating the law of "keep right except to pass":blast: It actually is a law in NJ that they must keep right.

    Phil,

Thanks for the link. I'll definitely look you up next time through. Sister-in-law lives in Round Rock and that's where we usually go. She lives down the road behind the dealership (Classic) - Eagles Nest, or something like that. I'm ALWAYS looking for an excuse to make myself scarce when we go there.

In germany its illegal to travel in the left lane they are trined to drive right unless passing. I wish the US would adopt those laws so I can get where Im going at the speed I want!! I seem to be doing all the passing and half the braking in the passing lane!!

GET OUT OF THE WAY STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

Its nice to know the Long Island expressway isn't the only parking lot.....you have that problem in Texas too ?? Takes my wife just about an hour to travel 17 miles - and thats at 6am !!! In good weather !! Watchout if there's any kind of bad weather at all....a few snow flakes can turn her commute into an all morning affair

Then, there are the times traffic actuallly is moving on it -

Within the Last few years, they built a HOV lane Farther over to the left 3 lanes for High Occupancy Vehicles. The "Idea" is people with at least one passenger, and usually going more than a few exits can Cruise.....Its got its own merge in and out of the left lane and you're not "Supposed" to cross in/out of the HOV lane anywhere else.

All it takes is ONE IDIOT in the HOV doing 55-60mph to blow the whole idea - the its time for the other idiots to play SpeedRacer crossing illegaly in and out of the HOV lane to get around the FIRST Idiot - of course this causes the unsuspecting in the non-HOV left lane to slam on their brakes :Dou: :Dou: :Dou:

ALOT of the time you make your best speed in the right lane :spank:

The other day I pissed off a ricer because I moved over into his lane. (I used my directional and did not cut him off). It was the right lane, and I needed to be there in order to get on the ramp to the expressway.

Well, he blew past me on the right shoulder, (I guess he showed me), and got in front of me all the way up the ramp going 5 or 10 MPH looking at me in his mirror all the way not looking where he was going. He wanted to see how pissed I was. There was a line of cars behind me, and I was holding it in.:af:

As soon as he got to the end of the ramp, he dumps it, and not seeing the little black pontiac next to him in the left lane, swerved right toward the poor soul and then quickly turning away. :Dou: It's amazing, those two cars must have been only 1/16" apart.

This joker could have really caused a serious accident. I still laugh every time I think about it, that idiot really made a fool of himself.
    Stupid ricer.:spank:
