    BINGO!

I drive for a living, and as such, spend most of my time in the right lane.

It's usually almost empty, and I can make good progress, and speed there... Only have to move over to the middle lane to pass the occasional 18-wheeler.

While I'm there, I can usually look over and see a whole croud of cars fighting over space in the left lanes:3gears:

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!! DRIVE RIGHT, OR DONT DRIVE AT ALL!:af:

    Entrance / Exit Ramps -

WHat ever happened to stopping (after the curve ends), LOOKING, WAITING for an opening, and then using the ramp to excellerate up to speed and merging into an open spot ?!?!?!?!?

Now-Adaze all I ever see is people speeding up around the curve and LAUNCHING themself into the right lane with no care at all what may be approaching -

"SCREW EVERYONE !!! IM GETTING ON NOW !!"

....causing people to Lock up their brakes. Heaven forbid you show your frustration at their brilliant maneuver - I've actually had people say "Didn't You see ME coming ???"

THATS NOT THE IDEA !!!! The IDEA is You're entering....YOU WAIT !!!

    On the Flip side....

You get the bright ones who know their exit is coming up, see the line of traffic moving slowly on the exit lane, Say SCREW THE WORLD !!! and wait until the last possible nanosecond to cut across 2 lanes of traffic to bail out.

If your in the right lane and have some power in your ride, these can be fun one's to play with. They'll try to accelerate past you on the left so they can cut across you to get off.....I'll mat the gas pedal and trap them, usually earning me a finger as they miss their exit. One time, they pulled off behind me and backed up to get back to the exit.

Here in MN the left lane isn't reserved for passing.
Slower traffic must stay right though. (Yeah, right)
You can drive in the left hand lane all day long.
    It isn't illegal.
As long as you move to the right to let someone pass it's no big deal.
Better to utilize all the lanes of the roadway than try and squeeze everyone over to one side.

Does anybody remember how it was for the first few weeks after 9-11? It seemed as though people on the road became more respectful of each other and less aggressive.

After the shock wore off, it seems to me like things are a lot worse. Especially around here, especially at rush hour. People are sometimes just plain nasty.

I want to move out to the country!

Ya but then you have gramma and grampa drivig 40 when you have to get to work and there is no way by them because of oncoming traffic, though there is the odd day I have acctually been able to go 65 - 70 all the way to work.

We live on a very busy 2 lane road. During rush hour at times you can't pull out of this driveway to save your life. The signal is 3/4 mile up the road, sometimes the traffic backs up all the way down to our house, both sides of the street. I don't know where some of these rude people think they are going, they will sit parked in the road at the end of the drive and just ignore us like we are parked there at the end of the driveway waiting to get out because we enjoy it.

When I have the DD, I just push my way through. When we are leaving to go to a cruise night, I'm more careful with the Riv but have pushed my way through with that car a few times too.

We WANT to move out to the country! And BAD!:af:

Were I live in Northern Michigan I can drive for two hours without a single traffic light and maybe see only 12 or 15 other cars. I love it after being raised in Detroit.

As for lane useage on our interstates... In Michigan you just pick the lane with the smallest pot holes in it and go.

When we were in Flint last summer, they were doing construction on the highway that goes from Flint to Frankenmuth. The lanes were very narrow. I almost had a heart attack driving on that road! Those crazy bastards drive 95 mph like that. There was only 6 inches between cars. We had the Riv! Yikes!:jd:

That's about 4" more than you need to do 90.

Don't get me wrong, Dick, there's not many things I enjoy better than letting that car roar, but not in a construction zone where the posted speed is 45 mph. There's laws about that.

I just get nervous when someone is driving within a foot from the side of my car on a road that is full of holes going 50 mph over the speed limit.

I drove the route from Las Vegas to Reno where the speed limit is 85. Now that's a lot of fun. Its only a shame I was driving a rented dodge neon. Wish we had the Buick there. Wide open for about 5 miles. It went 90 floored uphill, about 125 going downhill. I still haven't paid the speeding ticket I got ironically about 50 miles later after I slowed down.

Did you know that there used to be an unlimited speed limit on that road? :Brow:

Try driving the on the streets of Manhattan and Brooklyn in a 225. Better yet, the FDR. I have to do that every now and then as my mom lives in Brooklyn. Not an easy thing to do.

I know that feeling of the cars being too close to your prized mobile. I get really nervous. When did the lanes get so narrow?

The new round of horsepower wars from the manufacturers cracks me up. Don't get me wrong, it's good to see power coming back, but that 360hp high performance Infiniti is sitting there just like me.
