Well we can get into the custoim and usage section of Article 1 of the UCC if you like but it is not as clear as you say. The word counterclaim comes to mind.
HOLD IT I WAS ASSSSSSSSSSSSUMING. The add says numbers matching build sheet, protecto plate, license plates and paperwork. Does it have the original motor with original stamps? I really do not care, nor do I care that it has the original license plate. I am not buying it, now if I were I would probably know the answer as to the numbers matching motor.
I was present at the unveiling of this car at the GS Nationals. I was also present when Duane pointed out to the owner that the headlights bezels were the wrong color and the power steering cap was off a 71. It was a spectacular car. If it was good enought for Duane -- it was certainly good enough for me. I intented to bid on this car at the last of the ebay auction. As a OCA Senior Judge I know that you don't have time or the requirement to check numbers. However it what the Farmer boy said it true-- It greatly affects my thinking on putting in a bid of 150K. PM me if you have any info. I don't think it is appropriate to discuss openly in this forum. Thanks John
This here is the best GSX in the world? stories already..were is #2 in the world?? Hopefull she wont have a stamped up block and the correct dip stick for $150k..
Hi GSXER now that was funny,I am new to putting up a post. This is fun I am sure I will be back again, am I welcome. farmer!boy By the way has any body called Ron Horvath
I can't fathom not meeting reserve at $145K for that car. It's an automatic. Besides all the other stuff you guys were talking about, one of 282. And in Buickland, big deal. It's not that rare. Imagine what you could do to any car for restoration if you had $125K to burn. I don't get it at all. I can only assume that people other than me think that a yellow GSX Stage 1 automatic is the car of their dreams. Personally, I like the white ones with 4 speeds.
I have a #'s matching QQ 70 GSX stage 1 auto car going up on ebay soon. Wayne Roberts info, and probably the most heavily optioned GSX I have come across. It is needing a resto. I have NOS fenders, core support, and some of the other goodies for it. So if I sell it for $50,000, that leaves $100,000 for someone to do a resto. Money in the bank right? Tony
Guys, I have more thoughts on the car too.I had made Ron Horvath a offer on the GSX when he had it for sale and he sent me copies of all the paper work he had and I still have. After a couple a weeks I was ready to increase my offer but the car was sold. With this paper work I can tell you he was the second owner. He owns this car 30 years or so and he gets $18,000. for it. He bought it on 9-4-70. John puts another $50,000. to $60,000. in it to restore it, has it around 5 years and puts it on ebay. The biding is over $145,000. and has the nerve to have Reserve Not Met. This pissed me off enough to post what I did. What are your thoughts. farmer!boy
It is not about how much money the current owner will make on the sale. The question is what is the car worth. If as represented 150k easy. If not then I don't know what the value is . Clearly someone thinks it is now worth 145k +. Your priorities in life change. I sold 2 Olds W-30 cars that I never intended to sell. Someone made an offer I could not refuse. I was able to pay for my Son's tuition to law school and pay off my mortgage. AT 62 my life got easier. John has a son and he may be thinking like I did at the time of my sale. ( BTW when my son decided not to return to law school, I bought my 49 Caddy Conv with the $$. I will never get that back out of the car but it was my reward.) I doubt the car will reach reserve especially now that an issue has been raised as to its engine number matching. I personally would like to have it and don't want to go thru the hassle of restoration. I have my friend flynbuick to console on that issue. John
gsx farmer boy, my thoughts are your crying sour grapes because you didnt get the car. why are you knocking john for his reserve?
My thoughts are if you wanted it you should have bought as you had the first chance and now clearly regret not doing so. So far the car has not met reserve, so lets not count bids till reserve has been meet. As to the information you provided so graciousley to help us determine the value you would place on the car I would rather form my own opinion as I feel you made an error in judgment when you failed to purchase the first time and like then the car will sell for what the seller and buyer agree to as a fair market price. Now, do I feel this car is worth 150, no. I can tell you that I made an offer of 100 for the car at the gsca nationals in 2004 and was your info needed for me to make that offer, no.
Who are you famer!boy?.....Why don't you sign your name on your posts?.... I'd really like to see one of your cars..... Mods...Isn't it about time to bounce this guy?....
I think the seller is testing the market Maybe the reserve is set in the millions and the seller is just testing the market. It is his car and he has the right to do whatever he wants with it.
If it does not sell that would be a test without a score. Remember this is an auction with a reserve!
I don't really see anything wrong with any of the comments that have been made so far....simple debate about what's turning out to be a very expensive car....
I agree with Brett. If info turns out to be accurate, it is useful information --especially for potential bidders.
To GRNDNL or Keith I own a 1987 Buick Grand National I bought the car new. It has 19,543 miles on it. I am one of these people who never rotates tires, and have never had a flat tire and can honestly say the car has never had a lug nut off of the car. It is all original. farmer!boy
