Here is the e-mail I sent: To Whom It May Concern, I was recently enlightened by an e-mail (and reply to such e-mail) that was posted at V8Buick.com, a forum in which I am a member. Now, many Buick enthusiasts such as myself frequently have one or two current project vehicles. Out of 7,178 members (and growing daily), I'm sure there are more than just a few that would have a need for '70-'72 Buick body panels. --"If we had our phones ring down everyday with phone calls looking for those panels we would make them but as it stands maybe once every two weeks and sometimes that doesn't even happen"-- Now, I know this is a little cliche', and to tell you the truth, I can't stand the saying myself, but have you ever seen "Field of Dreams?" Here you go, "If you build it, they will come." How's that? Maybe you're not getting all the calls you require because many people know you don't offer (or could offer) the parts that they require. --"But if we could sell 300 to 500 pairs we would rethink our decision"-- I'm sure you'd be able to sell 300-500 pairs quite easily, as there are more people out there than you may think working on a '70-'72 project Buick. (I'm currently working on two. One, a '71 GS 455 and the other a '72 Skylark Custom.) I'm sure people are tired of paying $2,000 or more for extremely hard to find NOS panels for the '70-'72 Buicks. As high quality skins are hard to find, I'm sure the company that produces such parts (door skins, fenders and quarters) would be able to sell a decent amount of them. -Ernie A.
Here is my response from Goodmark. "No plans for any Buick parts at this timebut keep tabs on our website for upcoming parts projects." Goodmark
Goodmark response They emailed me back. I complimented them on their Camaro parts I have bought and asked if they will be making Buick parts. They responded back "No plans for any Buick parts at this timebut keep tabs on our website for upcoming parts projects. Goodmark"
Squeeky Wheel? The squeeking is getting on someones nerves.... No reason to let up. I'll bet he has a Buick fender/doorskin folder and he is filling it up. We need to keep this up and not just for a week.
Goodmark you've got to be kidding They sell EVERYTHING under the sun for Chevelles. GM reproduction rear Qtrs (the good ones), fenders, rear outer wheel houses, ETC. What about us BUICK guys come on !!!!!!!!
I got that answer to,but don't forget about the filler panel.(The panel that starts behind the rear seat becomes the package tray, the rear window seal and to the trunk.)

I tried to use the guilt trip on them. :bglasses: Here is my email to them. Subject: Please help to keep american cars on the road. Hello, I have a 1970 Buick GS-455 convertible that I have been trying to restore for many years. Due to a lack of aftermarket support for the 70-72 Skylark/GS cars allot of still restorable cars are being crushed or scavenged to try to save another car. I myself while scavenging parts for my '70 have scrapped 2 cars that would have been restorable had some aftermarket support been available. I vultured a 1970 skylark convertible that had been hit on the right side quarter panel and needed a quarter panel and outer wheel house. This car could have been restored. I also vultured a 70 GS-455 Hardtop that while it needed a complete resto, (floor pans, quarter panels, fenders, radiator support, etc) it was a desirable optioned car being diplomat blue with black bucket seats, disc brakes, etc. However, due to a lack of aftermarket restoration parts cars like these are being scrapped everyday instead of being restored and preserving american history. I know that your position on these cars is that there are not enough of them left to warrant trying to produce these parts but your policy just helps to ensure that your theory comes to pass. Not only would I purchase quality made parts to get my car back on the road, within a year or two I would purchase duplicate parts to ensure that I would be able to fix any future damage that could happen down the road. I would like to think that there will be some of the less popular cars still around 30 years from now so that future generations won't think that the only cars made in the musclecar era were the chevelle, camaro, mustang, and cuda. Thank you for your time. Robert McFarlen Do you think they are crying yet? :Brow: Anybody want to bet they are on the phone to taiwan right now to get the ball rolling!
I wouldn't bet my hard earned money on it.........what do you think could be more pleasing to these guys who have no interest in Buicks in the first place than their extinction? When I watched "overhaulin'" on TV yesterday I thought I was gonna puke when they used that cheap chebby POS motor in that '67 Skylark. This is the mentality of these jerks and if we think they are going to do anythink good to preserve the Buick legend I have a bridge to sell you. The best chance we have to make resto parts for our beloved Buicks (which we all know are better and faster than the above mentioned brands) is by a dedicated group of Buick enthusiasts. Hats off to the few dedicated Buick guys who are trying so hard make what retro parts we do have.........as Buick owners it's our duty to support them and encourage them to continue making parts for our cars. :TU:
Here is my 'dear john' email. Verry Colddd!!!!! Best thing to do is support the parts that are available for your car, and let us know that parts available for those models will sell and be profitable to make. Goodmark
