PLATINUM6BBL! :bglasses: This past weekend I finally had the car out for the reunion of Lift-Off Hood Cars @ Carlisle. Great time was had by all. Now just have to cure some problems before its' racing debut @ Stanton :3gears: :beer
What the heck is that???? A Mercury???  I like them old Mopars....I don't care what anyone says. Looks nice! :TU: :TU: Pat
Absolutely love that color combo. Olds had one called Antique Pewter in 72, had a Supreme with that and a black vinyl top. Go get 'em, Lon
Didn't have to sell off granny or my first born  I bought the car back in 1986 or 7 when prices were still low. This is the first I've driven it since then uzzled: :TU:
Nice car Lon!! good to see people taking the real deals out and thrashing on them!! Welcome to our own Lift off hood reunion this fall in Stanton!!! We may not have as many as at Carlilsle, but were getting close!!!! Jim
Very, very cool Lon. Man 19 years stored, I don't think I would have the will power to not take the Silver bullet out for a thrashing over 19 years. Mercury had a color combination like that in '64....anniversary silver with a black top was available....never owned one. Sorry Dave couldn't help it. :beer
Man, that'll never fit in my rearview mirror! (...obviously, just kidding) A timeless and classic combination. Congratulations.
I remember that Mercury option well. Wasn't that when they were trying to get more diversified and focus on the gay people market segment? o No:
Oh Really? How about Chevy Cortez silver? Pontiac had Nordic Silver, I think Buick called it Silver Mist :boring: Super neat car Lon!! :TU: :TU: :TU: Looking forward to seeing it in person :3gears:
When I got it it had a blowed-up 400 in the hole, original engine scattered according to a friend of mine who was after the car for a few years before I bought it. Original trans is still in place. I had the car repainted in the correct color as the 2nd owner had painted it in too dark a shade. Engine in it now is out of a 3000+ mile '69 NewYorker. I had it gone through but it is still the original crank, pistons, rods with a 284/284 Direct Connection Purple Shaft cam. Intake is the original. One of my best friends just wet sanded and buffed the car last month but it is the same paint that was applied back in '87/'88. Typical ameture resto for the time so it isn't cherry on the underside. Car came out of Texas in the early '70's and from what I can tell it never saw a winter here. I had heard alot of compliments over the weekend. Got lucky 'cause tonight as I was getting ready to unload out of the trailer the right front brake hose blew. This is just one of the things I need to get done before Stanton as I ran out of time to go through the brake system. Good thing it was on the way out 'cause when we loaded it last Thursday we did it on a downhill slope into the trailer :eek2:. BTW, any host hotel rooms still available?
Lon: I will be good to see you again. Especially with your own car in the event! Last time we met, you were wearing the green"Hulk" cast on your wrist! Your 69 1/2 is one sharp Mopar. :bglasses:
  You remember it well? uzzled: Just to show it's all in fun Dave here's a Merc picture for no apparent reason:
Back to Lon's post..... Thanks for the history Lon....get those brakes fixed, It'll be great to see that sweet ride at Stanton! :TU:
Yeah, you're right, Brian (God that hurt to say that ) Definitely get it to Stanton, Lon. Had another friend do just what you did with old paint, color sand it and buff it out. Great move.
