  2. In and effort to reduce the spam on the site, several years ago I had went to a program where I manually approve each and every new registration. This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

When I owned my '87 TR I was always lookin' for information and maintenance tips from any source during the pre-internet days. Livin' on the east coast of Canada TR's are hard to find along with fellow enthuiasts so I decided to join the GNRA , a west coast British Columbia based group of GN fanatics.
Gunther was one of the head folks of the club and IIRC did the treasury work for the club and was a very enthuiastic fan of the GN, racing and showing a couple that he had done over the years, I even spoke via phone to him a couple of times just to talk Buicks. I would say back then that I found him to be just another guy crazy about Buicks like the rest of us folk.

In the late 90's I had to sell my TR to refinance a major home renovation and as time passed let my membership slide and lost track of what was up with Gunther and the GNRA, when I got online I would see some postings by him on the GSCA site and he seemed to be a well respected memeber of the GN community.

It's sad that what ever took place that made him take the steps that he did to defraud fellow firefighters as I am out of the loop on GN s nowadays and was in shock to read the news here and when I checked out the GSCA board. he wouldn't be the first person whose hobby for something became an obsession that would lead a person to gain $$ by going to such desparate lengths, it's not right and when you hear news like that it makes a person shake his head after you think back on conversations and such with folks that get involved in matters like that.

A similar crime happened near my home where a lady who was a book keeper for a large seniors complex bilked the place out of $396,000 bucks over a few years. Her husband had 18 wheelers, Corvettes, GNs, race horses, trailers, 4X4's and a big ranch style house. You don't get all those toys by being a secretary/bookkeeper and a truck driver, if that was true then every trucker/ bookkeeper would have it all. It caught up with her and she was caught. Money was no object while it was rollin' into their account and I got stiffed for almost $400 bucks on some replacement glass work on their truck, but for some time doing business with them was no problem until the truth come out and the money stopped flowin'. It made me sick to think I did business with them when folks including myself thought that things were legit. She's now doing 28 months in the slammer and will have to pay restitution for the $$$ stolen.

Let stories like this be a lesson to us all, don't get so caught up in a passion to go another 10th in the 1/4 or to have the most fantastic lookin' resto on the car show field that you would resort to doing the dirty deeds against others for your own gain, it'll get you in the end!

E-mail addresses are easy to get and maybe he's new, or maybe he's not and he doesn't want to be seen as vindictive or gloating, or maybe he doesn't want to be the bearer of bad news, or maybe he's unsure of how the reaction in the GSCA would be at his posting it here, and he's a member. Whatever the reason, it's a sad state of things to see.
