Select few my a**,there are cars running 13.50-14.50 that should be running much slower,i think its the other way around, there are a select few that follow the rules.

Well.I personally have enjoyed wittling my 68 nova ss 396/350 hp car from a stock point of 14;50 to a best of 13;19 ,legally..its a lot more fun trying to get the best out of my car ,by tuning and making changes...sure,i could perform all lot of tricks talked about above, but thats not me;its all about fun and friends for me.I could probably hand the nova over to dan jensen for a week and he could probably have the car in the 12's..I think most of us, that have done this for a while ,know the limits of each car in the field..as the ole saying goes;what it is ,is what it is.some will be legal, and some cheat and some bend the rules alittle.I spoke to a retired Stock eliminator guy named Bo Laws ,who was a record holder in the 70's with a 427 black corvette.he laughed and said ,son,I could spent all day telling you the tricks guys used back in the day.chris

I guess someone voted recently in order to bring this topic back to the forefront from 2010. Maybe a better question is whether or not the original question is still relevant? This event for many has become an annual pilgrimage; ostensibly, there are no rules that can't be overlooked. Just come out and play with your friends.

Why is it that so many have such an issue with a guy who wants to go fast spend his money no matter how much it is. He or she is here for the same reason everyone else is to have fun. Think you people should be complaining about the horrible DANGEROUS track. What it gonna take someone getting hurt to get something done. I ran 11.94 at 119 last year and my gtx is probably more legal than some 13 second cars. It was a handful keeping it strait on that pass . Track needs more attention than who is going to fast.

I agree with poorly prepped track.
I was loosing traction mid way through second gear after 1-2 shift all weekend ,very frustrating not being able to get a clean solid traction pass.

I would happily pay and extra $10-20 bucks for track owner to spray the entire track!

I was sideways in third gear :eek2: Car went 12.0 here and 12.7 out there:Dou: I'm not crazy about racing on a junk track. I always think about who is in the other lane as well. I feel like this year I will just bring a slower car. Is that the idea?

Well you know, like a few folks here, I've been at this now for a lot of years. If memory serves, I don't recall track prep being such a safety concern back in the day when the fastest 'pure stock' cars we're running 13's? I guess some things have changed?

I think In The beginning guys raced what they had and then started to buy and build cars that have the right combination, ie 69 l88 vette. Plus the air fuel ratio meters and experience does not hurt. The track has always been bad at Stanton, maybe from the potato field across the street blowing dirt all over. I am in for better track prep.

All I want is a safe track for all to have fun whether the cars are 13 second cars or 11 second cars, it's fun to be there and enjoying the cars but if someone wrecks there car it's going to ruin the race faster than a supposedly cheating car. And I do know that a lot of the faster cars have been checked and deemed legal.

Bad air terrible track and guys still lifting so not to go faster then 11.50. I think that sums it up! Still a Great Event though!

I've seen a few. I wouldn't bother to build a car that fast if I had to lift.
