Your Mom's car?! That thing gets ice cream home before it melts for sure:TU:
1970 seems to be the most popular year, I can't argue, I think it's one of the best looking cars ever made. You should have no problem whipping that thing into shape with help from the members here

    Welcome aboard Danna

Looks like a good starting point for a resto. Just a few things to start with though, put that fan shroud away so nothing happens to it, they're near impossible to find....:( and your grille can be easily repaired( doesn't look too bad to start with) so don't assume it's broken and needs replacement( NOS 70 GS grilles go for close to $1000).
Now whats under that tool box on top of the engine and how did you "kill' the engine. I've brought engines home in milkcrates and got them running so we should be able to help you.....
By the way, I noticed the rear wheels have 1971 or 72 centercaps on what I assume 15" wheels? Give us some more info.

I took the caps off some buick at my aunts part yard , someone stole the original ones , the fan shroud was nicely stuck underneither the car about 30 minutes ago so i wouldnt step on it ( no garage sucks ), i had to go and remove the water pump i was trying to get the altentator off and broke a bolt off in the motor/pump thats connected to the bracket for the altentator :ball: the hood isn't the original either , someone stole it about 20 years ago and its on a buick running around somewhere also. I didn't know grilles cost so much . I killed it as in , decided to get it running , took the battery in to get tested since it kept dying and draning now i am starting to take it apart piece by piece to fix more ;/

    Not another Garrison

I'm not sure we're up for another Garrison on this board...... Mike, is Danna related?
Don't worry Danna, that bolt breaks all the time. You can simply drill thru the bolt and put a bolt and nut to hold the bracket. That top rad. hose is available and make sure you don't swap out the alternator for a different rebuilt one. Have yours rebuilt if it's the original one, the more original you can keep your car,the better.
I couldn't help but notice the painted valvecovers(Stg. 1 engines came with chrome valvecovers), is that the original engine? Could you post your VIN number( and or the cowl tag numbers) as you can learn alot about your car from them.

This Link has the VIN It's not a Stage 1 , I thought it was. its not the original Altentator . but its being rebuilt seems how it doesnt have a regulator in it.

Whether it's a real Stage 1, a GS455, a GS Sport Coupe, a Skylark Custom or a Skylark, it's still a cool, rare car. Nobody was born an expert on these things, don't worry about it.

I know it looks like a lot of work, but the key toward repairing and restoring the car is breaking the task down into pieces small enough to handle, and to know when you're in over your head.

There's so many pros and competent amatuers here there's nothing you can't get help with. I've personally broken so many things on my car I can tell you what not to do, lol

That GS455 looks fairly well optioned, too. It will take some time and effort (money too I guess:grin: ) but there's no reason that car shouldn't be able to be transformed back to it's former self. the people who built it were not Einsteins, they just had the proper reference materials and tools. No reason to think there's anything on that car you can't fix:TU:

Ok , I just talked to my mom anf she said the Original Engine breather , and hood was stolen out of it , and it is in a 1967 or 69 Buick around here somewhere , a man named Dean Ogden had camne here last year and was checkin the #'s on it he said he knew where the motor etc was but wouldnt tell her , is there any way of finding out to get it back ? it was stolen in 1981 when she was getting the heads rebuilt on it.

Track this Dean guy down and take a couple of the big board members with you to muscle the whereabouts of the original motor out of him:Brow: That would be my first approach :Smarty:
