Ok so not the best kill story but I had to do it....My daughter is home for the holiday so I was taking her for her first ride in the GS since it's been back on the road. We were just cruising along minding our own business when this clown in a black Mercedes flies up on my back bumper, we were on a one lane section so I couldn't move over. Anyway, after the road opened up to two lanes he blows on by me..I get to the stop light and there is turtle neck boy sitting at the light....It was a big Benz and had the V12 emblem on it I guess, my daughter looked over at it and asked me if they really came with V12,s....When the light turned green I left in a pretty normal fashion, not slow but not real fast either, all of the sudden Benz boy blows by me again, well I couldn't take it again, so I stood on it!!!!! I was already in second, so by 5000 RPM's I was a little in front of him, make the shift to third gear.... I look down and were at a little over 85mph...I would have thought he wasn't trying but he was hanging with me at over 90mph...I had to get on the brakes as we were coming up on a red light...at the light he stopped next to me and he and his wife were shaking their fingers at me like they were scolding me...scolding me????:moonu: He started it:Brow: ...I left the light this time in a wonderful cloud of smoke!!! :3gears:

Now that is the way to irritate a yuppie in a Benz.

Wish I could have seen their faces when you smoked that Turkey for Thanksgiving. :beer

I assume it was an older v12 Benz... as the new turtle-neck boys in an S series V12 Benz get a twin turbo V12 with 493 horses and 590 ft/lb torque starting at 1800 rpm.... bone stock! Or if you want to turn it up a notch you could go with the SL65 AMG package which gets you 604hp and 738 lb/ft of torque stock... c-ya later!

    Adam,
This is a Buick message board. This forum is called Kill Stories.
What that means is we post our kills,or just our fun in here.
It doesn't mean kill someones story or pee on their fire.
Yeah, the new Mercedes is awesome, but in all honesty,I would rather read about Ricks fun at the stop light rather than someone make an off hand remark about"Well it must have been an old Mercedes, because the new one would stomp your butt"
This isn't the first time I have read one of your "Put them in their place" posts.
If you can't just enjoy their posts, then don't comment.

Nice kill!!! I usually wave back with a smile and say thank-you. It really pisses people off (more so) than a one finger salute. How old is your daughter. Mine is 5 and is all she wants in do in the GS is RACE!!!! :3gears:

All she says is FASTER, FASTER. God love little girl, cause this one is going to be trouble :Dou: :Dou: .

There's nothing more rewarding than the look on some yuppie snob's face when you spank his richie car with some good old American Muscle. :Brow: :TU:

I really don't understand posts where we try to one up eachother... :Do No:

Anyways, great story, great kill. Also even if the Benz had 5,000 hp, I am sure the BBB sounded muuuuuuch better!

Yeah the Benz was maybe 5 years old and it was a BIG one, no Sports car for sure..But he thought it was fast and picked on the wrong "Old Buick" in the wrong place...On the highway he would have walked away from me...

My baby girl is almost 20 years old now...Normally she wouldn't approve of such "immature" behavior :Dou: (nothing like a teenage daughter to keep you in line) but she was fighting mad that he had driven so rudely, tried to blow away the "old car" and was then upset when I had the guts to hit the loud pedal :Brow: .....She's pretty feisty.....After I pulled my John Force/Johnno impression at the second light she laughed, "Good one Daddy"!

Had something sort of like that happen to me with a vette one day. I had my cousin and older sister in the car and he had his blonde supermodel with him.

My car, as they usually are, was sporting red ozide primer and I'm sure he thought it was an easy deal.

Never wanted to put someone down that bad but my sister asked me to PLEASE LET HIM GO!!!!!!!

We were at a light and he was in the left lane that ended soon so there would have been a "defined" winner there!!

I just idled away knowing I could have given his girl a different opinion of her "hero" and my sister not mad at me.

I'm sorry to admit it wasn't a Buick but it was a nice car for a young kid on minimum wage. A few weeks after that I left most of the rear axle about a block from that spot! Wacked 2nd HARD with the four speed and broke both carrier straps in the rear end!!!

That was one way to get me to round up all the 9" parts I needed!

    Adam,
You assume my car is stock....you also assume that it's not a 10 second car. My car is neither stock or a 10 second car but it could be without too much more done to it. I'm sure I could do it for less than 100K. There are many low 10 to mid 11 second cars here that are street driven..Can you see the look on the face of the poor guy that just spent 120K on his new Benz when he's trying to keep up with an old 10 second Buick but can't :af:

Oh, thanks for clearing that up... I didn't know what this forum was for.

Calm down big guy, you are getting your panties in a wad over an Internet post!

Sorry I had to throw out some numbers just so people get an idea of what kind of power V12 Benzes have. I will try to stay away from technical posts and go out in my Skylark and beat some stock Civic automatic rolling five deep with a four foot wing installed backwards.... that way I can get bragging rights and an e-pat on my back for racing a car completely out of my league and posting it on the Internet. I am sure that would make you much happier than actually having a discussion. :beer

Of course there are a lot of 10 second street driven cars on the board... it would be pretty lame if people couldn't get a car with 7.5 liters of displacement into the 10's.

I assumed that yours wasn't a 10 second car, because I just didn't get that vibe. Guess what? I was right. Another thing... a Mercedes is a luxury car, so I don't think someone would pay over 170K for one and expect to beat purpose built (and modified to run 10's) drag cars. Sure they would be pissed that they got beat by some old muscle car... but I am sure the tons of pampering devices in the Benz would make the loss go away quite quickly.

In addition, they know that even though the a 10 second Buick is faster off the line, it can't cruise across the country (if it were legal) at 150mph with the cruise control on, a/c blasting, gps unit mapping out their trip, a wicked sound system blasting... and the security of 8 piston calipers pinching huge disc brakes at all corners when it is time to stop or when some twisties come up (10 second Buicks do well in cornering I hear :pp ).

Basically I am trying to say that although the new Benzes are brutally quick STOCK (as far as I know nothing Buick ever made for the general public could touch a SL65 AMG - stock vs. stock) they are luxury cars, not drag cars.

Nice kill, but I just had to throw that out there.

Nice kill Rick. :TU: Sometimes I think snobs are only here for us to lay waste to!

It's a pretty heavy car as well, 4,000+lbs.

Adam, brother, check this out. We are all car guys, are we not? When someone posts a "kill" of any kind they want "High Fives". Do you understand why? Because we like it. Remember when you joined V8? The responses were "High Fives", not some technical crap about how your VW could not possibly do this or that. Thats the point we are trying to make. Who cares how much HP a Benz makes, that's not the point man. Try to think how this whole conversation would have been in a parking lot cruise-in, surrounded by Buick's, beer, and friends. Would your comments fit there? No. Give the man a well deserved "High Five". :beer

I highly doubt it was the new turbo AMG 500 since he was a young kid, and the only way I would say it was would be if this happened in California where all the yuppies live. But no matter what he paid big bucks for that car (the AMG) and I am sure the buick is a little bit better for bang for the buck. And after all when driving your Buick you need to take the opportunity to race a yuppie with an expensive car anytime possible, I know I would.

I understand that we are all car guys and girls here and that it is nice to hear some praise for a job well done. The problem arises when someone says that Buick > * doesn't always apply. That is when people become "Buick guys" and not "car guys". With a blind devotion for their beloved brand, they simply turn into people that bash others for having a different point of view without even considering its validity.

As far as going to brand-only meets... well, haven't done that yet with my Skylark and don't see how that would be more enjoyable than an all-cars welcomed meet where cars are judged by their worth (performance, looks, etc.) rather than what emblem they have on their grills. I previously met up with the local VW guys, but talking about VW's non-stop wasn't very entertaining after a while. Don't get me wrong, having a "team" or "brotherhood" if you will is nice, but no brand is elite. Trust me, I would not be afraid of commenting about Buicks at a Buick meet... why not? Isn't that the point of having a forum like this or going to car meets?

I can take what I dish out. I have done a LOT of racing in my day and I won some and lost some. My favorite race is when I dusted a guy that didn't know what he was doing in a 6spd LS1 Camaro... from a stop. I have also lost to some pretty silly cars as well. A Mitsubishi Mirage with a 4g63T (eclipse turbo engine) comes to mind, as does a hopped up diesel truck with propane injection. I give all cars respect and feel that others should as well, because no matter what it is... it could surprise you.

I did give the guy a "high five" when I said nice kill in my last post.
