Jeff Bezos pulled it off.

    From the Babylon Bee:

WEST TEXAS—Outer space has returned an unwanted Amazon package that was sent to it unsolicited yesterday. According to witnesses, the package floated gently back down to earth after being rejected. Locals have asked Amazon to please "pick this thing up and bring it back to the warehouse" as no one really wants it around or knows what to do with it. If you know who ordered a giant metal gumdrop with 4 dudes in it, please call Amazon immediately.

In his after flight interview, Bezos said we are wrecking the planet. Guess all that rocket fuel doesn't count huh?:D

Nope, it doesn't. Combustion of liquid Hydrogen + liquid Oxygen = mostly water. No big deal.

Some people look at our hot rods and say the same exact quote

I say why not ? His money his choice of toys

He employees lots of people at Blue Origin just down the street from me , spent a lot of money building the place , created jobs to do so
More power to him to help the local economy while playing with his “rich guys toys” more than I do with a old Buick

A guy looked at my Corvette the other day and said I wonder how many people could have been fed for the money that car cost.

I replied I am not sure, it fed a lot of families in Bowling Green, Kentucky who built it, it fed the people who make the tires, it fed the people who made the components that went into it, it fed the people in the copper mine who mined the copper for the wires, it fed people in Decatur IL. at Caterpillar who make the trucks that haul the copper ore. It fed the trucking people who hauled it from the plant to the dealer and fed the people working at the dealership and their families.

BUT,... I have to admit, I guess I really don't know how many people it fed.

I guess he lives in a tent or handbuilt shelter and takes the bus to work so he can donate all his wages to the poor.

Blue Origin placed a pretty good order with me, for items used at their Kennedy Space Center launch facility, so I guess they helped feed my family and my Buick...

Honestly, when Alan Shepard did this sub orbital hop, in 1961, using 50's technology, I think it was a lot more impressive.

This is the equivalent of wowing your friends with the power windows in your new car.. IN 61, it was a shocker, nowdays most kids don't realize there was such a thing as manual windows.

I had to chuckle when I heard of this trip, and they were not actually going into orbit.. The only real function here is an ego trip.

Talk about "Been there, done that".. Our Mercury Astronauts are rolling in their graves..

...and for perspective, compare Bezos/Branson/Musk space trips to commercial airline flights. Bezos gets points for Shepard flight emissions, but his next gen engine (BE-4) for Glenn rocket uses methane. The real environmental issues aren't now, but down the road commercialization of space travel...

I saw an interview with Bozos and he was trying to align his flight / compare himself with the Wright brothers ... Sure, Dude.

I didn't take it as he was trying to "align" himself with the Wright brothers. He compared this flight to the first Wright flyer. It's a beginning; you have to start somewhere. In terms of advanced rocketry it's a far cry from the early rockets of Dr. Goddard, to routinely hopping astronauts into the international space station. I can't think of enough good things to say about Mr. Bezos (I think I got it right that time).
There isn't a one of us that are going to sell our toys to donate all the money to a food pantry. I totally agree with Mike B.

That is a completely inaccurate analogy. Traveling to space puts those guys in a very elite crowd. It in no way compares to the thrill of owning a car with power windows.

Ego trip? This was a test flight for future travelers. It had a purpose besides breaking the atmosphere and returning. I don't hate the guy for taking the opportunity.

    This thread stinks of bitterness.

I don’t think anyone is bitter, some of us just aren’t easily impressed by an accomplishment which has been accomplished many times before. Only difference is this time the end goal is to make a profit on the sale of seats.
