Not in my possession yet, my son is shipping it to me today. Has sat for quite some time. The only number my son could find was 12r-8795b. Was looking for a rebuild kit on Summit Racing and I could not find that number in applications when checking on several kits. I did do a search online and did find a guy in Fleabay selling one with that part number, so number must be accurate/legit? Curious if anyone knew if one of these rebuild kits would work for this carburetor: Check out this page from Summit Racing https://www.summitracing.com/parts/qft-3-303qft?rrec=true Check out this page from Summit Racing https://www.summitracing.com/parts/qft-3-203qft Check out this page from Summit Racing https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aed-4500 Any tips , leads , etc , always appreciated, JIM
2 circuit or 3 circuit makes a dif in front metering block gaskets ( and metering blocks ) at least . i've only done one or two quick rebuilds on a couple so no expert by any means . any part number will probably be on the left or right side of carb body . at least thats what i noticed with a little online pic search .
Not sure if its a 2 or a 3 circuit...it is an older model, that I'm fairly sure of, but that is it. More research needed. My son sent me pics, but none of the side of the carb where model # is located, unfortunately. Expected delivery date is this Tuesday , the 25th, so I will repost when I get it... I was hoping to have the rebuild kit in hand when carb arrived.... Jim
unless the carb looks oem/untouched i was just thinking it might not be a bad idea to contact someone real familiar with the older dominators to confirm correct metering blocks , no mod's etc . and they might have some tips and info for ya for when you do the rebuild .
Ok , got delivered today. Numbers on top of carb- Drivers Side: L80186 (list#) 0725 (date code) Passenger Side: 12R-8795B (casting#) Carb: Primary Metering block: Numbers top: 11193 3 Numbers bottom: TX Jets 66 Secondary Metering block: Numbers top: 11188 4 Numbers bottom : R9 Jets 70 Primary Metering block and bowl: I'll poke around tomorrow on Summit and Holley website and see if any of those numbers can point me towards the correct rebuild kit. Jim
Jim, Looks like regular Holley gaskets. Don't believe that there's anything super special about them iF memory serves correctly. Tom T.
i would think the L ( list ? ) 80186 is carb number . 725 date code . 12R number is a casting number i think . yeah the gaskets do look pretty normal . but the metering block pic is buggin' me - angled vac port tube ? do you have a pic of the jet side of the metering block ? and get rid of the plastic level sights - i used to install them until i had a problem with several of them breaking off and just leaving the threaded portion in bowl , pain . edit - this morning I checked my 2005 holley catalog/tech info book and internet holley list# info . internet - 4500 series , 750 cfm , kits 37-1539 or 37-933 , needle n seat 518-2 , jets 74/74 , power valve 8.5 , nozzles 28/28 . book - 4500 series , 750 cfm , same kits , needle n seats 504 , jets 70/70 , power valves 6.5/6.5 , nozzles 28/35 . side note , looking down the throat of the carb it does LOOK a little smaller than most dom's so yeah 750 ? and no answer as to why the specs are dif . maybe just recommended updates ? and I just checked holley.com , tech support info for the 80186 , parts and kits matched up to the internet info . end gaskets did look to be standard stuff .
Now I'm not sure what I have, it appears to be a Dominator 750. Yellowbullet seems to think its a 1050 3 circuit: https://www.yellowbullet.com/threads/what-dominator-is-this.403453/ Previous thread on V8: Based on on poster, it appears to be a 750, based on "liberty bell" boosters. http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/holley-12r-8795b-l80186-1793.240128/ Looks like I can covert it to 1050, if that is the case indeed, by swapping in straight 1050 boosters. May be what I end up doing if it is possible...Jim
liberty bell boosters I'll put up a pic of backside of primary Metering block and power valves for identification purposes later today... Jim
According to my Holley book, it is a 4500 but only 750 CFM. It takes a 37-487 Renew kit, which has been replaced by a 37-1539 kit, https://tennesseespeedsport.com/holley-37-1539-renew-kit-replace-37-487 https://www.amazon.com/Holley-Carburetor-Renew-Kit-37-1539/dp/B00029JHHQ
ok , thanks for the metering block pics . when I saw the vac port tube ( common on the 650 spreadbore carbs and some others ) I feared the worst but the pics look normal . just never noticed that style on the DP carbs I've done normally .
Oh, it definitely is right now.. but with, New cam, (your TorqueTech) Stage 1 irons, (also yours), New Sp1 intake. Might be useful then, if not I'll rebuild it and sell it....and stick with my Demon 850..
Yup, I have everything I need to swap heads and cam with the exception of lifters and pushrods (TA) . Have all the gaskets, valley pan, steel head gaskets, etc. Could use your old FelPro head gaskets, if ya still got em, to mock it all up on the spare engine on the stand.. Was thinking SP1 with the Dominator flange and this Dominator 750, converted to a 1050. Gonna get Holley tech on the line and order the 1050 boosters and anything else I need to convert it.
Pulled the 750 boosters out and cleaned up carb. Next I'll get Holley on the phone and see exactly what I need for the conversion from 750 to 1050 cfm. Anyone know a Chevy guy that could use these cfm restrictions?......JIM
