Hey Mike! I found another addition to my 'harem' as my girlfriend puts it! What is that beauty in pics 32 & 42? It is GORGEOUS!

I'm sick, I know. Imagine that beauty a deep glossy black, BIG wide tires out back on deep wheels with something complimentary out front, way dark window tint, rumpity BBB and an automatic. I'd leave the back stock ride height and just lower the front an inch or two......

Now, where is that piggy bank? :ball:

Your guess is good as mine

Not sure but I believe the one is a 1950 Pontiac and the other (there were 2) is a 1957-58 Starfire Oldsmobile

    Mike,

Have you been to the one in Marshalltown, out by the power plant?
I took my father in there one day, the guy has cars catagorized by make and year. Saw hundreds of cars from 1920s and up.

There is also one near Cedar Rapids, on 30 hiway that is full of old ones, nothing really newer than about 1980. They have plenty fron the 50s-70s

    Mark,

Do they give you freedom to roam the yard? I am having a terrible time with these yoko's in Dsm. They always ask, "What are you looking for?" We don't allow anyone in the yards. I just drive around until I see one where there is not a "No Trespassing" sign posted. However, today I got caught. He was nice and just told me I couldn't be back there. I did manage to get these pictures before he came. I even found a 1973 Apollo with a four-speed but the pics did not take. The ones that did... show a front clip for a 1964-65 Chevelle, 1966 Impala and a backseat with headrests from a 1972 Chevelle. The 1969 Camaro had a great set of buckets and the radio was sitting on the rear seat. I could see the grass right through the floor pans. I had alot of fun and I will check out Marshalltown someday. Thanks and enjoy!

wish we had places like that near near me.........OH THE HUMANITY! :ball: That is the problem with us...we just chuck them away! I understand progess and fuel saving and the E.P.A., But when I look at those cars and think of todays cars I just want to shake my head.....That is a time we will never see again! Todays cars all look the same to me...Hard to tell a Ford from a Chevy and a Buick from a Dodge.....Also you need a degree in Computer Science to understand how to work on them! :Smarty:

    Mike,

he let us just go wander and look.
Crusty old fart, but nice once you talk for awhile he's good.
You will look for an old car up on a pedestal some 20 feet in the air.
Take hiway 30 to Mtown exit at the industrial park, go north to the power plant road, and turn left go 1/2 mile and he's on the right.

whats wrong with most of those cars? don't the cars rot out there? it looks like i know where i will go for my next rot free project, iowa. great pictures. out here in mass all of the cars rot out. it is rare to even see the late 70's early 80's a and g body cars now where 10 years ago they were everywhere.

    Oh, they rot in Iowa!

C'mon down, Paul and we will make a day of it. Sure most of these cars are rusty around the typical areas like quarters and floors but all in all there are alot of old cars around here. When I moved here from Flint, Michigan in 1991 I read somewhere that Iowa has the most classic cars in the United States. Now I know why.

Yeah, junkyards in MA don't have anything old at all. One near me has had a 60s mustang coupe for awhile but I think one of the employees owns it. The thing is rotted out big time. Except for that the oldest thing you'll find in a junkyard around here is early-mid 80s

Oldest thing I've ever found in a junkyard in NY was a '79 Firebird... <grin>, at least, of whatever was decent. I actually paid $400 for it. They were supposed to bring it out here when they came in the area for a pickup or delivery but that never happened, so I got my $400 back from them.... besides they had moved the damn car so far back in the back they couldn't get it out even if they wanted to. Well, that 350 I had saved up ended up in my 85 Monte Carlo at the time.... too bad it didn't make it into that 79 Firebird.. had t-tops and everything. <grin> Even had a Buick 3.8, i believe.
