Thanks, but I'm kinda cheating since the wagon is actually better balanced than any of the G-bodies, definitely the easiest to G-machine. The old 11" setup ran a .92 best. I upgraded from 11" to 12.25 discs and switched to beefier upper control arms. She'll be up into the mid .90's again once I get the new control arms dialled in properly. :TU:

I suppose I am beating a dead horse but I have been doing a little research on "NOS" lately and it seems if you have a bone stock import you can get away with a 70hp shot without having to make any mods to your engine for reliabilty sake. 70hp / 4 cylinders = 17.5 hp/cylinder increase. If you use this with a V8, 17.5hp X 8 cylinders yields 140 hp. so the basic nitrous kits with 125-150hp should be a cheap instal on a V8 since it's such a small amount it doesn't need high dollar support parts. Looking at it another way: the average 4 cylinder is 2.0 liters and the 455 is 7.6 liters so 70hp shot / 2.0 liters = 35hp/liter. Applied to a big block 35hp X 7.6 liters, this yields a 266hp shot. Since I am installing forged pistons on my 455 I assume I should be "safe" with a 250hp shot of nitrous on a properly rebuilt big block? Any opinions? I am just theorizing that since the V8 is much bigger to begin with, we can use much bigger power adders. A healthy 4cyl with nos is about 250hp and if his total output is matched by just my power adder, well you get the picture. One of my customers owns a corvette with a 454 that was dyno'd at 1000hp and then he added a 600hp fogger system. This car runs very low 8's and is almost into the high 7's and although it is still street legal and licensed (he has driven it to some local car shows) he has more invested in the motor than I make in a year.

    why?

I just don't get it, post your Buick opinions here and keep your Import opinions on the Import boards.

Personally I prefer Subaru products over Honda and Mitsu products any day, but I don't come to v8buick.com to state my opinion. If you own an Acura Integra that's great it's a great looking car with admirable performance in stock and modified form, but let's talk about your Buick.

You obviously have an attachment to the your domestic or you would not be here in the first place. I have owned more Imports than probably most people have a right to, and I would rather own a German car over an Asian car any day.

That being said, I try to keep that opinion off this board, because I come here to talk Buicks with fellow Buick owners. My 1987 560sl is faster than my '72 Skylark and my '97 legacy 2.5 AWD, but I don't feel this is the place to talk about either car.

Yes I mention them now to prove a point, but if you check any of my previous posts you will see I only mention my Skylark.

BTW: My 1969 Charger R/T ran 15.52 the first time @ the strip and I was practically laughed off the track by the Mopar faithful, but I was beaking in a new engine, nobody laughed three weeks later....12.43 No Slicks, serious traction problems, Nuf Said!

That's nice in theory, but for many here a "buick" opinion means an import bashing opinion as well, and then those who aren't part of the sterotype but into import cars feel slighted and jump int he fray and you have what we have here.

the problem is you can't talk about a race without talking about the other car, and a lot of guys seem to think talking about the other car means talking smack about the other car (unless it beat them). Forthermore most asscoiate a popculture sterotype when talking about import cars rather than stepping back and seeing the difference between a wannabe and a serious enthuasist is ususally age.

I also personally think that the young guys here who post kill stories and bash ricers the most are the buick equivalent of ricers, racing around traffic choked streets in bone stok 17 sec buicks (some with v6s) ad braggin how fast their car is over another kid their age with a 17 second honda. It's hippocritical, but hey it happens and you first have to be young and stupid to eventually be old and wise.

The rest of the ricer bashing comes from guys whose only contact with import racing is "the fast and the furious" and don't understand that everytime they advance that sterotype they discredit those hard working indiviudals who are real enthuasists.

Its a nice dream to think that we'll get past the import bashing on this board, but I don't see it as a reality anytime soon.
