MY buick vs. a chevy a-hole

Discussion in 'Kill Stories (Where Hemis Never Win)' started by buickman71, Apr 26, 2004.

  1. Seems to me we should all just lighten up a bit here. I really don't think the stories related in this forum are intended to be taken so seriously... I don't read a whole lot of them myself, but when I do read a few, I certainly take them along with a grain or 2 of salt. :puzzled: :beer

I've seen plenty of races where the lesser car won because the driver of the bad boy didn't know how to drive it. I personally waxed an obviously more powerful 71 Chevelle back when I had my rather stock 90 LX Mustang. He smoked the tires through three gears and I beat him by 5 car lengths. A win is a win in my book.

As long as your car can do this:3gears:............Your doin fine:TU:
Seriously though, good kill. You'd be surprised at what a buick 350 can do, and if you own one, you know. What happened to the idea of a 500 HP buick 350 engine?:puzzled: :Do No:When it comes out, there will be some shocked faces.

I whooped some a$$ with my old 350 2bbl. Skylarks in the past. I can only wonder how much more power they would have had with a 4 barrel..........:bglasses:

way too back me up guys...some poeple underestimate the "buick" logo and get confused with it as a "old women grocery getter"..as time goes..buicks are gettin more and more popular...even if i had the choice of a chevelle 454 or a nova ss...i would still take my 71 gs or the top of the line stage one..jus more looks and more shocks at the car shows i go to....thanks buick fans!!!...

Even my 340/4bbl LeSabre can take out a surprising selection of BMWs and other "sports" type cars.

I don't dare mess with the turbo import cars though. Got some stupid fast ones round here...

Yeah, I know what you mean by "turbo" import cars:rolleyes:
Last night when I took my car out, I pulled behind a black porsche convertible with a lady driving it, and I just pulled behind it, because I wasn't going to mess with it. It had a big"whine" noise to it. It had a turbocharger in it. I wouldn't want to mess with a car like that unless I had something to back my car up. Where's a GN when I need one:beer

The 396 is only 405 ft lbs of torque.... a 401 nailhead Buick is 445 ft lbs at 400 rpm less than the 396... The 350 Buick is 375 ft lbs at 3200 rpm, which isnt THAT much less than the Chubbie 396... a built 350 could easily take a stock 396 if you ask me. The 350 is a lot lighter than a chubbie 396 too.

    I hate Chivvies.:af:

I only said that b/c at a show I was at yesterday all the trophies went to them. One '59 camino took 3 and there was only 6 to hand out! There was 50 or 60 cars present. I proudly had the only Buick there at this non-judged show. :moonu:

Aw heck guys.........all cars have good and bad days. If the Chevelle driver was not mechanicaly inclined, he coulda had a real turd there. Likewise if the GS 350 was in tip-top tune, it could be a real stormer. Old musclecars are sensitive to different weather conditions, fuels, etc, etc. None of our cars are always at the top of their game. I once ran dead even with a 69 SS 396 Chevelle with my former 95 Dakota (318, 5 Spd, 3.90 posi) I followed him first before I caught a red light with him. I noticed black smoke coming from outta one of his duals. HA! Outta tune and I knew it! Twas neck and neck to the next light (approx 1/4 mile) My point is in racing, especially on the street, there are a hundred factors every time you go at it. And that is how the underdog can win from time to time.

I don't dislike any American muscle car. I like some better than others though!
