There's a guy who lives near me who's got a big case of Corvette Fever - Always 3 or 4 in his driveway, one or two out on the street with For Sale signs....friends over with More Corvettes

I always notice since I pass his house exiting my 'hood - he's on the first main street exiting the smaller neighborhood streets - His street and 3 others form a kind of square around my development each over a mile long.

I've never met the guy but once when leaving past his house I gave him and his friends' (who were standing in the street looking at all their Corvettes) a nice little show :Brow:

Sooo.....Yesterday I had just finished installing the drivers' door glass back into the door and adjusting it all....after also fixing the power window drivers main harness. As always after working on the car, I was going to take around the neighborhood for a little thrashing before putting her to bed.

Im sitting in the driveway letting all the fluids warm up and I see a White Corvette nose coming down my street :puzzled: Its this guy's Souped-up one .....late 70's complete with FULL Custom Aero kit, Big fat tires in back.....and a nasty small-block sound to it

....Not being driven in a normal manner either - instead it looked like he was rolling slow, dis-engaging the clutch, revving the motor and dropping the clutch doing Mini-burnouts every 40 feet or so :Dou: As he passes me sitting in my driveway he gives my car a loooong look and does  another  little hop with the clutch this time staing in the gas and leaving a 3 house burnout mark on MY STREET !!! IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE !!!

    I haven't even done that.....TUFBUICKS (Ron) hasn't even done that !!!

I roll out behind him and follow him out of the development back onto one of the larger "legs" that I mentioned above. typical sunday town traffic has us moving alittle slow and this guy is still playing "Pop That CLutch" every chance he gets :Dou:

We hang a right onto his street and BAM !! he's off in a cloud of tire and exhaust smoke and some quick gear bangin' ... I hang back and just cruise @ 30 mph.....temps almost at the ready :Brow:

He's now stopped in front of his house waiting to make a left into his driveway but traffic in the other lane has him waiting so I slow way down, rumble up next to him and Unleash the Hounds :3gears: Giving him back some painted strips infront of HIS house

Im watching the rearview and instead of turning into his driveway I see the 'blinker go off and the Vette nose quickly bounce up and down

    :TU: GAME ON !!!:TU:

I catch the next Red lite and signal right....onto the next leg of the square around the neighborhood. His blinker quickly follows....and when the lite turns green I've got the shifter in down in first ready to rumble but there's a bout 7 cars coming in the other lane about half mile away - I want them to pass as you never know if Mr. Policeman is one of them. Im just idling along in first gear at about 10 mph and he's back at the holeshot game chomping at the bit !!

Oncoming cars finally pass and ITS TIME TO WhooopASS !!! I MASH the GO pedal, the car Squats and I feel like a Watermellon pit being shot out from squeezing fingers........5800 RPM BAMM Chirp Second and Diggin REAL hard !! Look in the rearview to see Mr. Vette trying.....trying.....but coming up way short for this Flint Flyer :TU: :beer :TU:

    Game Over

At 70 mph (on a 40 mph road) i decide thats enough stupidity for one day and and hit the brakes. At the next lite I signal into the gas station and he follows.

    Him - :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:
Me - :Do No: :Brow: :boring:

Him - I cant believe how bad you just embarassed my car !!
    Me - Umm....Sorry :Do No:

Him - I just spent the whole day tuning....and its running EXCELLENT !! and you still waisted me BIG TIME
Me - Sorry about that.....must be the new gas I put in

Him - Your running Race gas ?? I knew it !! whats the Compression....12:1 ??
Me - No ... I used BP this time....usually use Mobil :spank: 9.8:1 compression......race gas usually slows me down

Him - What the HELL motor is in that thing ??
Me - A Buick !!! What else would it be ??

Him - (ALOT more freindly...and almost sheepishly) Can i see ??

We talked for about 20 minutes - he's running a 383 Small block BowTie with a good amount of work. I told him I had a bit of head work, a Cam, and exhaust.....

He COUND NOT BELIEVE how bad I pulled on him....and that its a pump gas, drive anywhere motor

He said he's seen me a few times and heard the car and always wondered whether it was a bad as it sounded.

I asked "Well, is it ??"

    "Worse than I ever thought"

It felt REALLY good ... especially after following him for 3 miles or so with him taunting me with those silly clutch-dropping hole shots

Afterward - I pulled in the driveway totally pumped, kidneys aching from adrenaline and my wife sez

    "Feel better now" ???

now....that the window is fixed ??? :Do No:

"No....now that you ripped up the whole neighborhood !!!"

    Ummm......you heard That ???

" the WHOLE neighborhood heard that  "
