Thanks for the help.Well the towing device have to go and the "modern" exhaust tips the same way.Gonna order Red Line tires from Diamondback Tires.Should look sharp! The Trim Tag reads F-1 and if that`s correct: Teal Blue Mist with White top. Interior is still 171=Light Blue. Black top today but in great cond and will do for now.
Car dealer in USA: Vern Parsell Buick Inc.

More news just came in: The car was on the road in Sweden for the first time 27:th of April 1972. 16 owners before me in Sweden.

The red car in front is a Toyota Aego,3-cyl.Fuel consumtion: Zero. 0-60 in two weeks.

Hi! I promised my girlfriend to decode her Buick and the results are: The engine match the V.I.N.The transmission match the V.I.N(Super Turbine 400).
More problems with the rear axle(10-bolt): The numbers are: 1382700 2-N F18 and on the pass tube MAYBE a DG or DU,very hard to see.

The trans plate reads: 68A 535
    BA68 11227

The dist is changed to a HEI with the number: 1103342. Im a Pontiac guy so perhaps someone outthere could explain more.Best Regards Christian.

    PS: Carb# is 7028246 LG

Thanks for your help again! Oops, sorry about the mats.Gonna order 4 new rubbermats from Legendary to match the carpet.280 dollars..
No,the Trim-Tag says Flint,Michigan and the first owner lived in Vienna,Virginia.

Now to the guessing contest: How much do you folks out there think that we paid for the car in US dollars?

Ehh.. no.Confirmed matching number on engine and trans. The rear bumper needs work but recrome cost 2.500 dollars here. For now it`s gonna stay inside for 5 long winter month and we have time to correct the car.
The aircleaner lid was painted by the previous owner. The towing device maybe gotta go,ugly yes.

The previous owner didn`t had a clue about the engine # or trans so we just strike luck. The tow bar was used with the previous owners caravan. You are living in USA? And think we paid 8 grand? If cars in this condition cost that in USA we are gonna take the first flight over and buy as many cars that we can! And what I have learned, factory engine and trans adds the value.

1.Take a look in swedish car sale ads,for example www.classiccars.se.The dollar is standing right now i 1 dollar= 8.75 swedish crowns.
    2. All the wrong things you see on the car can be taken away. All this was ALREADY on the car when we bought it.
3.We are NOT allowed to drive with MPH speedometers in Sweden. As you said ,someone changed it many years ago.
4.Things like CD player, wrong top color or towing device can be fixed.A missing factory engine or trans will not.
5.They made 2024 1968 Buick Skylark GS 400 Convertible w/aut trans. How many do you think still have the factory engine and trans 47 years later?

We are gonna buy the "correct" floor mats. And the Red Line tires. And ditch the towing bar.But NOT the top ,like the black better.
Anyway,we like the car and it is in a good condition. So in May we will drop the top and listen to some good old rock`n roll and consume a lot of beers.

Very nice looking car. I like the black top as well. Bonus on the matching numbers, no matter what it means in Europe. So, if you ever decide to sell, do it here in the U.S.. Are the other cars in the building yours, or is that a rented storage? Some pretty nice rides in there from what I see.

Smokey 15, thanks a lot for the kind words! It`s a rented garage with a lot of buddys. A range from 1940s Fords to 1970`s muscle cars.Fords,Chevys,Olds,Buicks and Mopars.Different kinds and taste. This car is my girlfriends first ever owned musclecar and she is VERY proud.
Sweden is nr 2 after USA with most US cars on the planet. Please visit www.bigmeet.com.Approx 20.000 cars at "Power meet Vsters" 2015.Not bad,Sweden have the size like California. So we are very proud to be privileged to drive around with these beautiful American made muscle cars.

Welcome to the world of Buick, and to the V8 Buick board. That is a very good looking 68 in what looks like excellent condition. I had a 1968 California GS about 20 years abo. It was a great car, though not very fast.

Last year, we sold our '68 396 Impala to a guy who lived both here, in the States, and in Sweden. Not sure exactly where in Sweden it is, but it's roaming around there, somewhere. P1010040.jpg

Hello again. Some work have been done but it`s no hurry since our spring will be here around April/May.But today we installed the new headlights.Changed from Hella H4 back to Sealed Beam and got the right look. Not so good light but there was no relay between and we saved the harness and headlight switch from overloading. Also installed Hood Insulation and some decals. Also restored both the parking housing, lens and harness.Next online is Teal Blue rubber mats and Red Line tires.

We like to thank ALL the people here on the forum for all the help/info regarding Chatarinas car.Very limited info here in Sweden since this is the ONLY registred 1968 Skylark GS 400 Convertible in Sweden. Thanks again!

Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents about the value of your GS400. I think $8500 is a very low estimate for a matching numbers GS convertible in the shape yours is in. Even as a driver here in Florida, USA it would probably sell in the $18,000 to $25,000 range depending on condition. Enjoy it and welcome from Florida. :TU:

    Hi again,

i would prefer the better safty with brighter lights,
and still with the sealed beams i would change to relays.
It's my opinion since i read this:
    http://www.madelectrical.com/electricaltech/brighter-headlights.shtml

I agree, but we have the choise to install the H4 again with relay.Took a closer look at the Trim tag and it says F2 so black top IS original from factory.Must check my eyes.
