NOS Stage 2 Edlebrock B4B, Holley mount only. This is the one that came as part of the infamous Stage 2 455 over the counter package. It has never had a bolt or fitting even inserted in threads. It has aged to a slightly darker aluminum color but could be beadblasted back to original. Perfect for the replication of a Stage 2 motor/package. $450 + shipping and insurance. Check or money order, PayPal add 3%. Payment due within 7 days. Thanks, Tom Will post pics tomorrow, the ones I had were too big to download.

whats the big differance from the new b4b manifold and the n.os one your selling tom. looks like a very nice peice by the way.
The original B4B is what Edelbrock designed for the 455 without any consideration for use of the GS air cleaner. This meant they were free to place the carburetor pad in the center where better distribution of air to all cylinders could be achieved. It was also part of the Stage 2 package or option list. At some point, Edelbrock discontinued them, but eventually designed a new intake, the Performer. The Performer was designed with the idea that most customers would want to use the GS air cleaner, which meant the carb pad had to be placed towards the back of the intake. Edelbrock then decided to market a new B4B with the carburetor pad placed in the center. But instead of using the original casting, they simply moved the pad on the Performer forward. I've read, somewhere, that the original B4B makes a little more torque, but can't seem to find that information anywhere now. Also, a few magazine build ups have mentioned very little difference in power between the new B4B and the Performer. So, the original B4B may be the more desirable intake. At least, I hope so as I have one that is going to be used on my 455. o No:
The original Stage 2 over the counter package had a Holley 850 carb (#4781) as designated carb. If you look at this manifold it has the top machined for the Holley carb only (Quadrajet bolt holes are there but would need to open up for back 2 barrels) with a notch cast in the divider for the optional Holley 950 3 barrell carb. The sides of the intake were also indented as you can see to match the 1970 heads. All later B4B versions are cast with the top cut out for the Quadrajet(bolt holes are there for Holley but must use a adapter plate) and the sides of the intake are straight across, not indented. Those can be made to work BUT this is the only one that is 100% correct for the Stage 2 package and was limited to very early 1970's production only. This is the only NOS one I have seen in last 10 years for sale. Thanks, Tom
Interesting. I've learned something new today from this thread: Edelbrock has made not two, but SEVERAL versions of the B4B over the years. Here's a photo of the one I have. I think it's the one I want because I plan on using a Q-jet. Anyway, don't want to hijack the thread. My bad. It does appear that the intake for sale here is the correct one for genuine Stage 2 engines. Wish I had the engine to go with it!
I bought one of these 30 years ago at a swap meet in Louisville. It has been in my car ever since. I know it is at least 30 years old and probably older. It has the lower area at the heat crossover area instead of flat across and has a heat hole in the side of the intake instead of a horizontal pad for a choke coil. It also has the notch for the three barrel in the back. I did grind it out for a quadrajet ever so slightly but it looks just like that. I'm thinking I might want to keep it now! Thanks for the pics to compare with!
I have a NOS one.Debating whether to put it on the re-stage2 of my 69 or put the one I had on it in 69,also the holley only one.what do you think? gary
Bopb Debate is over,I'm putting the B4B I had on in 69 back on top,it was well ported and machined to fit the heads. So the NOS one goes back on the shelf.I'll do a pic of the stage 2 motor on the stand before re-installation if thats some interest? gary
Pictures Gary...Pictures:kodak: BTW...the Stage 2 B4B you sold me is looking extra sweet atop my beast!:eek2:
This one was NOS. Early unit, only fits a Holley. It also has the flange that is for earlier cylinder heads. This is a 70 Stage 2 with a 4 speed. For the guy that wants to see pics. :3gears:
