THere sure are some interesting intake manifolds moving around these days...., I had no idea that one would go for as much as 450.00 (or even close to that) but this one seems special.:TU: Regards, 455nGLIDE
Looks like an iron manifold milled like a B4B plenum.we do our stock appearing iron manifolds like that. gary
Gary , The stage 2 heads I have are the pre 71 freeze plug boss with X prefix .Do you think the heads I have would have had a B4B or someting else . The have been extensivley ported by BPE . I think Tom @ one time told me Branson or Bronson porting Ent. They still have the light weight valves on the intake . Just wondering ?? Nick
A B4B would have been the intake for those heads. Tony Branson may have ported them. I bet the intake valves are the old sodium filled valves from Buick. Those sound like a set of heads worth holding on to. :beers2:
Yep they are worth keeping,I just sold a set of those to our friend in Boston since I had 2 sets.,and yes the B4B works, its the only one, except for the old offy, available for the buick back then. my stage2 400 heads have the sodium filled valves in them. gary pics coming soon
BPE Racing Heads is Steve Bronston in Placentia, California, he was a key player in the design of the KB Wildcat intake manifold for Jim Bell and Oliver Colteryahn.
Yep Herb got the heads Yes sodium filled valves , they are the intake valves I have . I just finshed the shortblock with the stage 2 pistons (455)..... 308s cam,old KB valve covers or crome 400 , a Ronco MAG !!! & T/a timing cover . I was thinking of putting the Offy dual quad on top & a pair of inline holleys Followed up by a Auto Gear M22 & 4:78 buick Rear..... This will be all installed in a 1969 stage 1 Black & pearl interior car .... The stage 2 headers I have do not have the clamp @ the collector ?? They are very old for sure !
Pics of the 400 stage 2 ready to drop in.The orange on the MT's are a little too red, hoping they will flatten out some after warm up. Glad to hear the B4B is working for you.Note the divider milled out on the B4B on the motor,we picked up top end with that in '69 and the 4speed.Yep,same manifold. Thanks Yards for letting me have it back gary
Not meaning to highjack the thread: Gary, What did you use to coat those headers? I'd agree that they do look a little dark. Most of what I've seen are usually a lighter shade. Eventually when I find a set, I'll have them high-temp coated. That's IF I can find someone to do them in the correct shade of orange. Which reminds me; I can't find a picture of some in the correct color. Are the ones for the BB Chevys floating around ebay close to the correct shade?
Here you go . . . I think their price may be a little off-kilter . . . http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Super-Scavenger-Headers-BBC-Chevelle-Camaro-Nova-Impala_W0QQitemZ150368304895QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2302a63eff
