Very! Also has 2 part-time jobs (math tutor & sound tech for the county for events @ her school). I'm truly blessed with 2 amazing kids (& wife!).
Future Chemical Engineer? Loo-ser. Oh wait, my dad was a ChemE from Stanford and my middle daughter is a sophomore studying to be a ChemE at Northwestern. So your daughter sounds like a winner to me! Congrats! Midway through her senior year in H.S., my daughter says, "I'm going to be a ChemE, so how come you never told me your dad was a ChemE?" I reply, "How come you never told me you wanted to be a ChemE?" I am so not a helicopter parent. Also, good writing skills do matter as an engineer. I used to feel my writing abilities were wasted as an engineer -- the old "yesterday I was studying to be an engineer, today I are one" -- but many more times they have come in extremely handy.
My writing skills have come in handy just as much if not more so than my engineering degree. I'm working on a book myself that I think you'll find quite interesting. Wife is definitely more helicopter than me. We balance ea. other. Fortunately I don't have to worry about my kids doing the s*** I did @ their age. Lol, she's actually amazing in so many ways (doesn't get on here but does follow both my Twitter "X" accounts).
